Special Focus of the June Meeting

Addressing Hunger/Poverty Across the Presbytery: Sharing With & Learning From Our Congregations

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” (Matthew 25:35)

A 2024 survey by the Lake Huron Presbytery Mission Coordination Committee highlighted the meaningful impact your congregations have accomplished addressing food insecurity and poverty in your communities and abroad. Your programs are varied and creative in their scope and implementation.  You are answering Christ’s call, making a difference and sharing hope. And, the need for these programs continues. 

At the June presbytery meeting, we will spend time sharing with and listening to how our churches are responding to hunger and food insecurity. We invite all attending presbytery commissioners and members to participate in these small groups. In advance of the meeting, please take time to become familiar with your church’s current mission initiatives and what questions you may have for other congregations. 

As we prepare for our June meeting, please join us in prayer for those hurting in our midst and those called to ease their pain with loving hearts.

Presbytery Meeting Information

The Presbytery of Lake Huron will hold its stated meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 starting at 9:30 AM. This will be an in-person meeting at Linden Presbyterian Church, 119 W. Broad St., Linden MI 48451 and they will be our hosts. Please note this information regarding parking: Due to construction on Broad Street you will need to enter the church parking lot from Thompson Road. A barrier free entrance is located at the west side door. Please follow the signage once you enter the lot.

As far as the meeting itself goes, we will begin with worship together and then spend some time together, hopefully learning from each other around the topic of food insecurity and what our churches are doing in that area. Just about all of us do some type of ministry in providing food to those in need and learning what we do and its impact matters. 

From a business standpoint, we will have several items of interest. We will hear from Mission Coordination on a mission grant process available to all our congregations. Plus we will commission our commissioners to the 227th General Assembly as well as several other reports. Our meeting will conclude with the sharing of the 2025 Necrology Report of clergy and elders in our congregations who were reported to have joined the Church Triumphant during that year.

The responsibility of moving arrangements are on the purchaser.
