Happy 2026!
We say it all the time – can you believe it’s a new year. But it is. And with a new year often comes changes or adjustments. I was reminded of that this first Monday morning. I pulled out of my driveway, went down the street and make my turn to head to the Presbytery office like I do almost every Monday morning. Except the Presbytery office isn’t there anymore. We are a virtual office now. I had to go around the block to get turned around and head to where I was supposed to go now. It happens and that’s just one small example of how change comes along whether we’re prepared for it or not.
That continues to be true in our lives in the Presbytery. Not only have we moved into a virtual office model, we have changed our financial operations as well. Just before the New Year holiday, a letter was sent to our congregations explaining new ways of funding the Presbytery and funding mission. Hopefully it will be shared with all our Sessions as we continue to need feedback and ideas for what future mission giving and support can be. We are excited to develop a process for mission grants that will be available to our congregations as well as a program that churches can support.
Personally, I am truly pleased for the willingness of the Presbytery to be as transparent as possible in regards to finances and how things are done. We may make a few wrong turns as we head to new places. But I believe, together, we will go where God is leading us. Please keep your ideas and thoughts coming; be looking for further communications on mission grants and giving; be patient as we adjust to a new life as the Presbytery of Lake Huron.
Yours in Christ,
Ted McCulloch
