Dear William Paterson Faculty and Staff,

With little more than two weeks until the end of the semester and Commencement ceremonies just over three weeks away, these are busy and exciting times on campus. While much of our focus is getting our degree candidates over the line and across the stages of the Prudential Center and Sports and Recreation Center, we are also working hard on building the incoming class for the fall and increasing persistence for our continuing students.

As of Friday, first-time domestic student applications have increased by 5.27% compared to this time last year, with acceptances up by 5.41%. Notably, after extending the priority deposit deadline to June 1 last year due to FAFSA processing delays, we returned to the traditional May 1 deadline this year. As a result, first-time, full-time (FTFT) domestic deposits have risen by 33.5% year-over-year, contributing to an overall deposit increase of 24.95%. International applications continue to show significant growth: undergraduate FTFT applications are up by 111%, and graduate applications have increased by 41.8%. Overall, new student applications for Fall 2025 have risen by 16.44%. However, we have currently achieved 86% of our application target necessary to meet the projected enrollment for the Fall 2025 class.

On Saturday, Undergraduate Admissions hosted a successful Open House alongside an Adult Learner Information and Networking Session with the College of Adult and Professional Studies, welcoming a total of 372 students and their families to campus, representing a 10.35% increase over last year's event.

Also as of last Friday, FTFT main campus retention is up 1.5%, and overall persistence is up 2% from this time last year. Overall, persistence for undergraduate main campus transfer students is up 3.8%, year over year.

This week’s WPWe are Proud – There was even more youthful energy than usual on campus last week as our campus community welcomed approximately 85 young Pioneers as part of the national Bring Your Child to Work Day. It was a wonderful opportunity for children of faculty and staff from across campus to join their parents and guardians at their place of work, see what their days look like, and get career insights, while also enjoying lots of fun activities, including arts and crafts and an escape room. Congratulations and thanks to Vice President Allison Boucher-Jarvis and her Human Resources team, especially Director of Human Resources Operations Tensa Thomas and Senior HR Generalist Jeannette Gil for their vision in planning and managing a successful event with the help of program coordinators  Michael ArpBecky BairdMartha EchevarriaKimberly GalvezJill Guzman, Tiona HarrisKaitlyn HowarthJudy MatthewDonna Minnich SpuhlerThomas MolloyGary MarksJenny NesenjukJoshua RinckRob Taylor, and Nancy Weiner.
