Office of the President

March 2, 2026

Dear William Paterson Faculty and Staff,

With Spring Break less than two weeks away, our campus will be getting increasingly busy as we work toward the end of the Spring 2026 semester. There are two events of note taking place, where I hope you can join us.

First, we will celebrate the kickoff event for Women’s History Month at William Paterson tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3 at 12:30 p.m., in University Ballrooms B/C. I have the honor of delivering welcoming remarks, and the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Melissa Baralt, founder of SheCaucus, a not-for-profit organization supporting women. Please click here for more information on the kickoff and check out Pioneer Life for the full slate of Women’s History Month events.

Also this week is First Thursday for March. Please join me and your colleagues in Hobart Manor on March 5, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. to catch up over light refreshments.

Congratulations to our Pioneer Women’s Basketball team on their historic season and a great NJAC Tournament run, which saw them reach yesterday’s Championship game here on campus as the No. 1 seed. While the result wasn’t what we were all hoping for, they can be proud of a season that saw them go undefeated in conference play for the most conference wins in program history and record just one regular season loss. The team had already secured the NJAC regular season title, outright, so stay tuned for news from the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament selection show, which will take place at 2:30 p.m. today.

A snow day last week and forecasts in the 70s for next week! Enjoy the weather, and have a great week.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Helldobler, Ph.D.
