Bibles for China's Millions - China
The Bibles for China’s Millions project aims to provide Scripture to Christians throughout the country. Last week we had the privilege of having an update from our partners in China and how the work has been continuing over these last few months.
China was the first country to be seriously impacted by COVID-19, with a lockdown having been imposed as early as January. The China Partnership and Amity Printing Press had to shut down many of their operations to comply with the lockdown.
The China Partnership was able to continue engaging Christians through social media and other online ministries. This was great for those who had access to a smartphone, however for those in more rural areas it was harder to get resources to them. Thankfully, now many of the lockdown restrictions have been lifted and the China Partnership can resume reaching these people with resources. The “Beyond Disaster” resource produced by the American Bible Society has been translated into Chinese and 100,000 copies were printed. So far 70,000 have been distributed and they are hoping to do an additional printing run of this resource.
Amity Printing Press was able to reopen and have begun to resume printing Bibles. Our colleagues in the China Partnership tell us that on the 30th May churches were allowed to reopen following social distance guidelines and with appropriate PPE- a very exciting development! In another exciting news the China Partnership and Amity Printing Press have renewed their partnership for the next 10 years.
