Biden signs massive climate and health care legislation

President Joe Biden signed Democrats’ landmark climate change and health care bill into law on Tuesday, delivering what he has called the “final piece” of his pared-down domestic agenda, as he aims to boost his party’s standing with voters less than three months before the midterm elections.

The legislation includes the most substantial federal investment in history to fight climate change — some $375 billion over the decade — and would cap prescription drug costs at $2,000 out-of-pocket annually for Medicare recipients. It also would help an estimated 13 million Americans pay for health care insurance by extending subsidies provided during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Southern Nevada Harm Reduction Alliance (SNHRA) is hosting its sixth International Overdose Awareness Day event, from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, at Chuck Minker Sports Complex located at 275 N Mojave Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89101. International Overdose Awareness Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the loss of friends and loved ones to fatal drug overdoses. The event will include testimonials with community members discussing their overdose-related experiences. A naloxone (Narcan®) training will be offered, and participants will have the opportunity to receive overdose prevention kits. In addition, food and community partners will provide information about services, including recovery resources. The event will also feature an interactive display titled “Soul for Soles” which will remember and highlight people who are no longer able to walk with their friends and loved ones. FDA allows over-the-counter sales of hearing aids without doctor exam or referral

Millions of Americans could have access this fall to less expensive hearing aids sold over the counter without a required doctor exam and prescription.

A Food and Drug Administration rule unveiled Tuesday allows retail sales of hearing aids by mid-October for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. Regulators said the new rule should give millions of adults less expensive options and broaden access for those who can't afford hearing aids.

Nevada Medicaid Rate Review Survey

It’s that time again for the quadrennial Medicaid rate review process! The purpose of this review is to help the Division assess whether certain Medicaid provider reimbursement rates accurately reflect the actual cost of providing a service or item as provided under NRS 422.2704. In some cases, a rate review may warrant a recommendation by the Division to the Director for an increase in reimbursement for certain providers.

We need your help to make sure that we have the information needed to complete this review. Provider Types listed below should immediately complete the survey.

The deadline is September 16th.
