Just in- Several types of surplus Italian military body armor. First there are some heavy duty ceramic plates, much like the US issue SAPI plates. Next there are some neat laminated Kevlar plates. These are made of the same kind of Kevlar material as most soft body armor like police wear, but it has been formed into a hard panel by layering it with resin like fiberglass. This results in a panel that is rigid like the side of a fiberglass boat or car, but still has its armor properties.
We did not get any spec sheets on these, so we took some samples to the range to test. The Kevlar panels stopped 9mm, 45, 44magnum and 12ga 00 buckshot at 15 feet. The 44 magnum wasn't tested in time for the photos because I had to borrow one later to test. The ceramic plates stopped 5.56 55gr FMJ, 5.56 62gr FMJ "Green Tip" and 7.62 NATO/308 147gr FMJ all from 15 feet.
Please note because this is surplus and we did not get any kind of certification paperwork it must be sold as "collector/novelty" use only according to the lawyers. What you choose to do with it once you have it is up to your judgement.
