On Friday we told you we were going to make it, and guess what? The weekend brought even more good news: This weekend, a generous donor who believes firmly in the justice of our cause, made a $50,000 contribution to Just Want Privacy!
This is a big deal, friends.
While we had originally planned to pay for 100K signatures, we are hopeful now that we will be able to pay for 150K signatures. People are stepping up financially. Assuming that continues to happen, this will relieve the load from the volunteers. Will you consider a donation of your own today?
We received over 170K signatures AFTER June 21st last year. This year, its reasonable to think we will get even more if we all go up to the deadline.
Of course all of this depends on us continuing to do our part. Please send in your petitions as soon as possible and continue to gather signatures everywhere you go for the next three weeks. If you have not yet received your petitions, you can request them here, and we will gladly mail them to you.
At a recent meeting of Washington Won't Discriminate, they acknowledged that if we get I-1552 on the ballot, its over. They know they can't win a vote.
They are being desperate and dishonest during the signature gathering phase because they know that intimidating you is the only way they can succeed. But let's make sure it doesn't work.
Washington is going to be the state that turns the tide on this issue nationally, and its going to be because of your efforts. History is filled with stories of regular people doing extraordinary things because they refused to quit. You are standing on their shoulders and setting a tremendous example for those that come behind us.
One day I will tell my grandkids about your efforts and the difference they made on an entire country. And citing your example, I will encourage them to be the kind of people who do what's right, even when its challenging, because if they don't no one else will.
Look forward to celebrating with you. Very thankful for each one of you and your efforts. Let's get this done.
