I hired a radio promoter to send the song out to all the jazz radio stations all across the USA.
Back in the day, radio promotion was done by the Mafia. They'd ask the big DJs to play a song, and those mobsters could be very persuasive!
Sure, they might try to help things along with money, drugs, vacations, prostitutes and threats of violence. But they got songs played on the radio.
Ah, the good ol' days!
Nowadays, radio promoters send stations--terrestrial and internet--digital copies of the song and hope it gets added to playlists.
Sure, they make phone calls and send emails, but they're not asking Nicky the Nose to pay a visit to DJ Yomama Spin Laden to play your song non-stop for weeks on end!
But wouldn't it be nice if by chance Saving Grace becomes one of those smash hit summer songs that everyone plays as they're frolicking on the beach, neglecting their kids who are swimming frantically away from an approaching school of sharks?
Slim People, Saving Grace is available today on radio and all streaming platforms--Spotify, Pandora, Amazon, Apple Music.
If I can get just 100 of you to stream the song a million times each, that's like a billion streams!
And what else makes today a big day in Slimland?
Well, the Firebirds asked me to sing the Star-Spangled Banner at tonight's game here in Palm Springs. The Firebirds are the minor league hockey team here, and this is their inaugural season.
And they're doing great!
They made it to the semifinals two weeks ago, thanks to a guy named Slim Man who sang the anthem and inspired the team to the victory that sent them to the the next round of the AHL playoffs!
