East T-STEM Academy
Inspire. Challenge. Equip.
We have the BEST teachers- bar none!
One such example is the Family Coat of Arms: The students in each English CLUE class have been split into opposing family houses (Montagues and Capulets) as they read Romeo and Juliet. They discussed the purpose of a family crest/coat of arms and each team was given the traditional family colors (Capulet- blue and yellow & Montague- Red and green). Each team was tasked to choose a family motto they felt best represented their team. The coat of arms displays a photo, one quote the student feels best represents them, 5 ways that they identify or describe themselves, and the family motto. These will be displayed in the classroom as we read the play and students will team up with their family on various assignments (such as acting out a scene) and will work towards a reward at the end of the unit.
Pictured here is Ms. Spolin's Spanish class! These students are actually speaking in SPANISH to one another. Observing students walking from building to building engaging in conversations in the target language is amazing! I am proud of our teachers and very proud of our students!

Spotlight of the Week
Mr. N. Malone
I am a graduate of Byhalia High School in Byhalia, MS. I received a Bachelors in English from the University of Memphis. Go Tigers, Go! I am currently a graduate student at Union University studying Education. I enjoy teaching my students and inspiring them to become stronger readers and better writers. I work hard to prepare lessons that will both educate them and challenge them to be their personal best. As the Senior Class Sponsor, I also work hard to make sure that they are ready for post graduate studies! I love my job and my team!
