Bits and Pieces

April 22, 2025

New is news this week! Let me start out with my very newest addition: I have a NEW PUPPY!!! He’s adorable, quite big and heavy for his age, and I have named him Big Mack. When you see his picture below, you will understand that Mack is the perfect name for him! He is an unusual silver in color, enjoys skating through his days, likes very crunchy food (hard and big sort of like nuts and bolts) in his silver doggy bowl, and makes me laugh whenever I look at him. Although he’s new to me, I think he’s not a puppy anymore, because his knees and toes are kind of stiff like an older dog’s would be, he doesn’t move around very much or very fast, but he can light up when he sees me! Murfee and the rest don’t pay any attention to him, so they all seem to be getting along. I was concerned that Murfee might get a bit jealous of Mack, but he shows no signs of that, and as for Mack, he ignores all of them, sort of like he just doesn’t see them. But I haven’t heard Mack bark or whine about anything yet, so I’m glad for that! He is such a joy to have around, and I knew you’d be very happy for me. I just got these pictures taken and over to Lynn, so she has some heartwarming photos of Big Mack somewhere near the bottom of the newsletter!!! Let me know what you think of him, and what tricks I can train him to do. He is already potty trained, and I don’t have a crate big enough for him, but he just LOVES being outside!

Speaking of being outside, did you get rain Friday night? I did, and it smelled so good and fresh, and helped rinse off the trees and such! Wish the cool weather that came in with it would stay for a long while, though. I hope you had a wonderful Easter if that is what you celebrate. The year is just passing by so quickly that I’m amazed, and we have just gotten in our information for this year’s BERNINA University dates and classes near the end of June. It is here when we learn what new products BERNINA is putting out, which if any, have been retired, what they have in mind for the upcoming year. It’s always interesting, to be sure! Additionally, Grace Co. is having their training and product celebration during the first week of June.  Again, their focus is training us better so that we can help you better. Interestingly enough, both seminars are being held in Salt Lake City this year, so we can learn all the good eating places roadside between here and there!

Remember that this month, the special serger month for BERNINA ends, as do the money back deals from Grace Co. when you purchase certain frame/machine bundles. Purchase the Luminess Light Bar (5’, 10’ or 2’ extension and receive 10% off this month), plus 30% 0ff the Ruler Base, the 3-piece hopping foot set and/or 3 Leah Day Rulers!!! These special prices will be gone soon, so don’t miss out if any of these things are on your wish list. I wished for a puppy, and I got Big Mack, so dreams really DO come true!

We have Sew Sisters on Wednesday, Intro to Bags on Thursday, Northwest Valley Quilters in the classroom on Saturday, and a special Make and Take on Tuesday, with Cora. This class features turning a man’s shirt into an apron, or perhaps a pillow! If you use one of his shirts, he probably won’t miss it, will have it back only re-purposed as a bar-be-que apron, and you’ll know it will fit since it was his to begin with! Or you could grab any dress type shirt from Goodwill, if you want. You will have it finished in class: think ahead to Father’s Day presents and enjoying the class and its $10 price!!! Sign up soon!

For our Special of the week, let’s look to the Timeless T’s!!! Something different than fabrics for you: when you give us the code of TTT20, we will take 20% off your purchase price of the following T items: True Cut items (rulers, ergonomic rotary cutters, electric or hand operated sharpeners, cut mats, ruler shapes and sizes, circle cutters and anything else we have in the True Cut line from Grace Co. ALSO: threads, all of the brands we carry and have in stock. ALSO:  Travel Bags (like the trolley and module bags, which have to be limited to in-shop pickup only, or travel backpacks or accessory travel bags with in-shop pickup). So, code is TTT20. The 3 T’s are True Cut items, Threads, Travel bags. Here’s hoping you can use all of them! Enjoy the pictures of Big Mack!
