Dear Neighbors,

Public comment is back—and now it’s online and by phone.

Public comment is an opportunity to speak in front of City Council on any topic. Before the pandemic began, public comment was held Wednesday evenings prior to City Council A session meetings. Due to the pandemic, these in person meetings were cancelled. Since then, I have advocated for the City to reintroduce public comment and to offer the opportunity for remote participation. Public comment returns this week with options that are safe and accessible for our residents.

Engaged residents are the foundation of a healthy government. Thus, opportunities for participation are critical. Stay tuned for more opportunities to participate in your government remotely!

Public comment officially resumes this Wednesday, June 3 immediately following the conclusion of the City Council’s regularly scheduled B session meetings. Normally, this is around 4 or 5 p.m.

Residents can begin submitting comments starting on the Monday morning before the Wednesday evening comment period. There are four ways to make your voice heard:

  • Leave a voice message at (210) 207-6991. Voice message comments are limited to 300 words;

  • Drop off written comments at the Office of the City Clerk located at 114 W. Commerce, San Antonio, Texas 78205. Written comments are limited to 300 words; or

  • Through a live call-back option. To request a live call-back, the resident should include his or her name, telephone number, and topic on which they would like to speak in their voice message at (210) 207-6991. Time limits for live call-back comments will be determined by the Chair of the meeting.
Residents can provide comments in English or Spanish. Interpretation services will be provided when requested in advance.
Yours in public service,
District 7 Office
