Dear Parents, Families, and Friends of St. Therese,
As many of you have heard, St. Therese Chinese Catholic School will be expanding to a second campus as of the 2019-2020 school year! Our two National Blue Ribbons, our record of high student performance, and our commitment to educating children in an academically strong, globally-influenced, and faith-based environment has given us this incredible opportunity.
Since the decision was made by the Archdiocese through the Renew My Church process, it has been a whirlwind of activity - getting to know the St. Barbara campus and parents, hosting "meet-and-greets" with current families, advertising and hosting Open Houses for prospective new families, and more.
Our plans continue to evolve but we wanted to share some highlights with you:
St. Therese Chinese Catholic Church will combine with St. Barbara Catholic Church as one parish.
Details on this merger will be forthcoming.
Both campuses will be one unified St. Therese Chinese Catholic School. We will identify the two campuses as St. Therese School - St. Therese Campus, and St. Therese School - St. Barbara Campus
Both school buildings will remain open
. Our vision is to have two schools each with students in PreKindergarten through 8th grade. Enrollment will drive how that will look over the next few years.
Both campuses will share the same rigorous, globally-based curriculum
. Teachers will work with returning students and new students to ensure consistency across both campuses as much as possible.
We have welcomed current St. Barbara students and families,
and have worked to ensure that all know that they have a place at St. Therese School. Most of the current St. Barbara families have already re-enrolled their students.
We are recruiting new students to our school
. After so many years with a long waiting list and full classrooms, St. Therese is thrilled to have seats available for more students!
We will be making improvements to the current St. Barbara School.
The campus has so much to offer - including large classrooms, a gym, and well-equipped science labs. Our list of necessary investments is long, but we hope to make some important, strategic improvements before the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Chief among these investments is technology and additional curriculum materials for the students.
We will continue to share details and news of this exciting and challenging time for St. Therese School as we move forward. In the meantime, we ask for your support in a few ways:
- Continue to pray for all of us in the St. Therese and St. Barbara communities.
- Help spread news of the additional enrollment opportunities to all those you think may be interested in attending St. Therese.
- Help us make strategic, first year investments in the new building through a gift to our Building Fund.
- Continue to support initiatives to improve the St. Therese Campus building, including helping us reach the 2018-19 Annual Fund goal of updating additional classrooms. We are close to raising enough funds to update two classrooms!
St. Therese has provided an excellent academic, spiritual, and cultural foundation for hundreds of students over the last 78 years, and we are so blessed to be able to continue and expand on that foundation towards a century of success with our second campus.
