Dear friends and supporters,
Later this month, we will celebrate the official opening of The Foundation Project. We are so excited to be expanding our footprint in the community in order to serve so many more youth, families and individuals and take another leap forward in ending homelessness in Chicago.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being on this journey with us. We could not have done it without you - and, we're not done yet. Much work remains and I know that with your support La Casa Norte will continue to thrive and impact youth and families throughout our great city and beyond.
This is why it is with incredible mixed emotions that I share this exciting news with you.
I have accepted the position of Deputy Governor in the administration of Governor J.B. Pritzker. I am excited to take the knowledge I have gained through building this organization and working with so many partners, staff, board members, donors, and volunteers, and the youth and families who have walked through our doors and apply those experiences to the work I will be doing every single day on behalf of the people of Illinois.
I will remain in my position at La Casa Norte through February and during that time I will be working on transitioning with our interim Executive Director, Vicki Hadaway, who you will come to learn more about shortly.
"For many, Sol Flores has been the living embodiment of La Casa Norte. She has led this organization with the kind of compassion and determination that few can match. Sol's appointment is a testimony both to her outstanding leadership skills and the entire
La Casa Norte team's ability to serve Chicago's youth and families experiencing homelessness. Our loss is the gain of millions of residents across Illinois who will now have a fighter looking out for them and their families. We wish her much success and look forward to continuing to work with Sol in her new role. We also look forward to working with you through La Casa Norte's ongoing efforts to provide creative, effective solutions for our community." - Board President, Howard Hayes
As we undertake this transition, I look forward to sharing more with you. Thank you again for everything.
Sol A. Flores
