PROGRESS PROGRAM GRANTS

Torrington Rotary
June 28, 2022
Scott Prusia GED Board President; Nate Hibben Rotary President; Jeff Jones GED Vice-President and Rotarian; Al Meloni GED Secretary/Treasurer and Rotarian; Brett Malm Rotary Past-President; Brayden Connour GED CEO and John Hansen, Rotarian.
Torrington, WY --- Goshen Economic Development awarded the Torrington Rotary Club with a Progress Program grant in the amount of $5,000 to help offset the cost of a new Audio/Video system upgrade at the Cottonwood Country Club, where Rotary meetings are held weekly. The system currently in use is antiquated and was in need of an upgrade to better serve members and the public, alike.

According to Rotary Past President, Brett Malm, the benefits of this equipment upgrade include allowing for the Cottonwood Country Club Facility to be open to the public to utilize the equipment as needed. Prices to rent the facility could be priced for members and non-members accordingly but would be open to the public for a variety of needs or events such as weddings, funerals, receptions, business meetings and other public or community events. Additionally, this will provide a public forum for presentations by prospective businesses wanting to come to Goshen County to communicate their business plan or create additional commerce or economic development.

“The space can also serve as an additional meeting room space (located on one floor with no stairs) with the technology to hold a conference or meeting, which today, is very limited in Goshen County,” Malm said. “The enhanced technology benefit also creates and allows for more interaction between the presenters and those in attendance.”

Torrington, WY --- Goshen Economic Development (GED) presented Torrington Cinemas with a grant utilizing ¼ cent sales tax for economic development funding. The grant will be used to help offset the cost of repairing its projectors. After the theater purchase, the projectors were found in disrepair and needing work. Brandon and Marie Flanagan opened Torrington Cinemas at the end of March. GED is thankful the Flanagan’s reopened this staple of downtown Torrington.
Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast
Thanks to our sponsors and volunteers, the Annual Ag Appreciation Breakfast was a success. The meal for Goshen County Fair participants and volunteers went off without a hitch the morning of Fair Day. As you can see by our pancake line, everyone was happy to get up with the sun, flip pancakes, and scramble eggs to show our appreciation for the Agricultural Community.
