Wrapping Up the Lodge Renovation

Phase 1

We are rapidly finishing up with the exterior renovation of the north and east sides of our beloved Lodge!

Facilities Director Ted Rosensweig, Construction Contractor Beto Ramos, and their hardworking team have done an amazing job restoring this important structure including:

• Replacing all of the old wooden siding with long-lasting hardy plank

• Replacing all of the old decking

• Replacing all the old wooden railing posts with black PVC coated galvanized steel wire mesh

• Creating new overhangs with beautifully designed support beams to better protect the windows from the elements

This phase of the project will be complete in early October, just in time to enjoy the amazing fall colors from the best view on the property!

Wooden railing posts have been replaced by metal hog wire, enhancing the view

New overhangs will protect windows and doors from the elements

Lodge Renovation Phase 2

We will now focus on planning for Phase 2 of this project – renovating the front of the building and entry way as well as the deck side of the building. The cost for this next phase will run approximately $163,000.

We are excited to complete Phase 1 and look forward to Phase 2 of this project as it will ensure the integrity of this building for years to come as well as update the appearance.

Thanks to your generous contributions and pledges, which make our planning more efficient, your contributions are put to work as soon as they are received.

A Message From Mountain Member –

Laird Parry

Money Well-Spent

Dorothy Allen Parry Wilson passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 22, just short of her 104th birthday. She was my Mom. And she was a solid supporter of The Mountain since the days when it was known as Camp Parrydise. Although a Parry by marriage, not by birth, she loved The Mountain as much as her husband, Harvey Parry Jr, did and even as much as her mother-in-law, Camp Parrydise founder, Maud Montgomery Parry, did. Mom knew it was a special place that needed to be preserved for future generations.

I was lucky enough to be able to show Mom photos of the new Staff Housing and the refurbished Tower just a few days before she died. She was so pleased to see what her contributions to the Capital Campaign had helped to accomplish. Her comment was, “That was certainly money well-spent. We need to support them”. I agree. To my mind it is more than money “well-spent,” it is money “well-invested.” It helps to ensure the long-term future of The Mountain for future generations, and that is a Very Important Thing. In January of 2025 the Parry Family will be investing an additional $100,000 in the Capital Campaign. We hope that you will invest some too. It is money “well-spent.” Mom said so.

Very best regards,

Laird Parry
