Let's level up.
The fifth Big Rural Brainstorm will take place in downtown Lindsborg. It’s six hours of energy that inspire big thinking. We’re coming together to help Kansans take their projects and communities to the next level.
We can do anything. Let’s do it big.
The Big Rural Brainstorm is an “un-conference” that brings together Kansans from every corner of the state who want to make a difference where they live. It’s a day of fast-paced facilitated sessions, in big groups and in small groups, in creative spaces spread throughout downtown Lindsborg, that prompt discussion and thinking about new ways to work on things we care about. It’s about feeling energized to go home with new, functional ideas and the support from a statewide network of Kansans who know how you feel.
This year’s theme - LEVEL UP! - recognizes that Kansans have made great investments in communities and programs. We’ve come a long way in the last few years to build new housing, to paint more murals, to find ways to add childcare capacity in our towns. Where do we go from here? How do we keep the momentum going and take things to the next level?
We’re going to find out.

WHO IS ATTENDING THE BIG RURAL BRAINSTORM?
- People who want to make Kansas a better place to live
- Anyone with an idea that could use some Good Thinking from fellow Kansans
- Kansans who are committed to implementing new ideas and getting stuff done
- Champions of community-building projects who can use some support - and who can give support to others
- Local government, tourism, artists, farmers, entrepreneurs, economic development, health care, elder care, child care, educators, librarians, community foundations, rural telcoms, housing, etc. Anyone in the business of rural living.
- Advocates from state agencies and organizations
The Big Rural Brainstorm adds value and momentum to new and ongoing projects. It works because we create the list of brainstorming topics together. The registration form starts with a few topics of interest that we’ve collected from Kansans and a space for you to add your own ideas. We need you to tell us what YOU want to talk about! Just about anything can be on the table as long as it is something that needs to go to the next level. And chances are good that if it’s something that’s important to you, it will be important to others, too.
Everyone in the room is an expert. When we pool the expertise, great things happen.
This conference is for you if you like the energy of being around supportive people and want to contribute to it. We strive to create spaces to accommodate those who love big groups and those who are more comfortable with smaller numbers. Introverts, extroverts, ambiverts… all ‘verts are welcome here.
