Another Culvert Update

The weather this past weekend created havoc for re-installation of the Lost Creek culvert under Big St. Germain Drive. As much as five inches of rain fell in parts of the Lost Creek watershed Friday night and Saturday. The volume of water passing through the culvert Monday morning made removal of the existing culvert impossible, but that conclusion was not evident until after the roadway had been excavated.

A temporary water bypass is to be constructed, hopefully on Friday, October 13, which will enable removal and replacement of the culvert in spite of the continued volume of flowing water. It is still possible the roadway will re-open for traffic by October 20, but that target might now prove unachievable. Users of Big St. Germain Drive should be prepared for delays extending into the week of October 23.
