Is This a Great Weekend Lineup, or What?
Ribfest Saturday
Bushwood Sunday
Saturday - Yes it is time again for the
"Lake Bluff BBQ Society Ribfest"
and this year the Community Church is entered under the name Fire and Brimstone — and we need your help!
This Saturday anytime between 11-2 please bring your tastiest appetizer (big or small) to the Fire and Brimstone tent which will be located on the Lake Bluff Village Green.

You’ll know our tent by the Tibetan prayer flags flying. No sign-up necessary. If you feel like making an appetizer (and we sure hope you do) bring it on down! All appetizers help raise money for one of our favorite charities - Beef4Hunger. Come down (goes all day!) to sample some ribs and apps, see friends, and be part of one of Lake Bluff's greatest days!
Sunday - "The title of Rev. Hancock's message this week is:
"The Secret of the Lahmed-Vavnik and Why Bill Murray Might Be On"
which is based on Zach's translation of Matthew 5 (the beatitudes). Music will be provided by the popular local band "Bushwood" which includes church folks Craig Pierson, John Walsh, and Steve Hill . The service is in the Chapel @ the College and begins @ 10:00 a.m.

Don't forget the kids K - 5 have Roots & Wings this Sunday, and that meditation is @ 9:00 a.m. and coffee hour @ 11:00 after our service. We'd love to see you - why not bring a friend? And just for fun - Zach is encouraging everyone to wear their "Bushwood clothes" - feel free to email Zach for more information!

And by the way, thanks to Bob and Jane Miller for flowers & coffee hour treats & greeting on Sunday. If you can assist one Sunday this year with any of the above, email Pam .
Roots & Wings is Back!
Our first Roots and Wings lesson this fall will revolve around the affirmation, “I love and take care of my earth home.” Paul’s prayer from Ephesians 3:14-19 will guide us in our first lesson as we explore our “roots” (like our belief in God) and “branches” (who we are and what we can become through God’s love). Our altar will be in nature, and we’ll listen carefully to  The Happiness Tree  and respond deeply as we discuss the meaning. We can’t wait to meet new students and welcome back our terrific, “old” friends, too!
PS - Roots & Wings is for children K - 5 - children start in worship and during announcements meet Mrs. Koch and Mrs. Stevenson in the back of the Chapel to go to class. Questions? Email Mary Jo or Teddi for more information!
A new Babbling Bohemain podcast is out and we know you'll be interested! This podcast features our very own
Elliott Delman , who traces his roots in music. language and laughter, often through the lens of Jewish culture in a far-reaching conversation with Zach. Check it out on your favorite podcast source,
or on our website by clicking here.

Help Serve "The Community Meal" This October 13th
You might be asking: What is The Community Meal?
Each week a church in the area provides food and volunteers to serve at Christ Episcopal in Waukegan.
We need eight volunteers, this is an ideal number to help make the meal happen, arrive at noon and depart at 3 PM.
If interested please contact John Corrigan
The Community Meal is a really fun way for a group of friends to spend an afternoon together doing something together that is meaningful and needed, and so appreciated by the clientele.
And don’t fret, John has all the food sorted out -
all you have to do is help!
Did you miss last week's 20th Anniversary Celebration Service? Don't fret!
