Boat Batiste's Bayou &
Bus Burke's Book Byway
NEW IBERIA, La. -- The newest option of the Dave Robicheaux's Hometown Literary Festival brings a once in a lifetime opportunity to literature lovers and unique thrill seekers alike by boating them down the famed Bayou Teche to live the Batiste lifestyle of Robicheaux lore.

Boat Tours

On "Batiste's Bayou Teche Adventure Boat Tours", visitors will set off on a party barge from the City Park Boat Launch and get a perspective of Dave's Domain from the waters of the Bayou Teche. A guide will point out several key points of interest along the way. Three tours will leave on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.  The boat will bring you back to City Park where you can listen to the free Acadiana Symphony Orchestra's Symphony Sunday in the Park starting at 3 p.m. Cost for the boat tour is $25 and advance reservations are highly recommended as there are a limited number of spots per tour.

Bus Tours

For those Robicheaux lovers who really want to see the area through Dave's eyes, the festival is offering guided tours to some of the real-life versions of key places in the detective's world. Making an anticipated return, the "Last Tour to Elysian Fields" bus tours departs Dave's hangout, Victor's Cafeteria, once more this year to traverse the Iberia Parish of Jame Lee Burke's famed novels.

The bus tours are scheduled to run Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. Cost is $60 and includes lunch. Reservations recommended. If you can't make it on Friday or Saturday (or are lured away by the festival's other events), never fear: the Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau developed a self-guided version of the tour, so you can pick up a guide to the 25 stops at the welcome center (2513 Hwy. 14, New Iberia) and explore on your own.

For more information about the festival or to order tickets, visit DaveRobicheauxLiteraryFestival.com or  Eventbrite.com. Tickets can also be purchased at Shadows-on-the-Teche's Visitor Center.
