Dear Berkshire Money,

Do you find yourself anxiously waiting for the monthly jobs and CPI reports like the weekly elimination round on your favorite “guilty pleasure” reality show? No? Just us, then.

Last week, the December jobs report revealed an unemployment

rate of just 3.5%, lower than the 3.7% predicted. Perhaps more importantly, wage growth softened, with average hourly earnings up 4.6% from a year ago, which teases weakening inflationary pressures …

… but we’ll have to tune in for Thursday’s CPI report for the (shocking?) final inflation numbers of 2022.

A sweet surprise

This past weekend, BMM surprised first responders in Great Barrington and Dalton with deliveries of carrot cake cupcakes from Sarah's Sweets as part of the Cupcakes for Tatas fundraiser supporting Melissa Thomas Sweener in her fight against breast cancer.
