What's New At The Exploreum? Lots!
Evonik Continues Its Partnership  With
The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center
Thank You!

We are thrilled to announce that the J.L. Bedsole IMAX Dome Theater will now be able to continue its Dome Head Science lecture/classic film series as well as premier Global Soundscapes, an interactive environmental program sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Perdue University. This program for schools is awesome, and we are one of only six science museums to premier this new educational experience.

This is because Evonik Industries has generously funded a digital projector that will allow us to show video, movies, and images in a large format in the theater. The Exploreum's 15-70 large film movies will continue on the full dome, of course.

The addition of this new equipment opens up loads of new opportunities for us! Businesses will soon be able rent the theater for state-of-the-art training, retreats, presentations, teacher training, "Hollywood" movies, and traditional documentaries can be shown. Watch out for some new and unique birthday party opportunities for kids AND adults!

For those of you who attended one of the Dome Head Science events, you know how awesome it is to have a great digital projector, and while it does not cover the entire dome, the picture is still very impressive.

A sincere "Thank You" to Bonnie Tully, Exploreum Board Member and Site Manager of Evonik Industries. We greatly appreciate Evonik's continued support of the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center and our mission to further STEM education in Mobile and along the Gulf Coast.

Announcing A New Partnership With The Dora
Franklin Finley African-American Heritage Trail!

The Medical Tour awakens you to Mobile's culturally diverse heritage by linking historic contributions and events with significant locations and people through the Dora F. Finley African American Heritage Trail. Forgotten chapters of medical history are remembered through the stories of courage from Mobile's ethnically diverse physicians, pharmacists, hospitals, and mortuary science contributors in the past.

The tour continues with a stop at the Gulf Coast Exploreum where you will explore medical careers and the human body. A unique journey through the My Body Works Gallery allow imagination to run wild while learning about body systems, nutrition, surgical technologies, medical professionals and all about "your" body through interactive machines. It only gets better when you enter the iHealthy Lab to uncover the secrets of the human heart.

Think about the human body as a unique machine, think about the opportunities we have to care for others, and lastly, think about the individuals who did it before us! History is never-ending, where will you stand in it?

Students will benefit greatly from learning more about our city's medical history and how individuals with perseverance can make a difference in the maintenance of personal and community health. This tour strives to provide students with knowledge of their medical heritage and medical careers.
