Attract & retain to keep on burnin'
“See you in September
See you when the summer's through”
-       The Happenings

Summer is not quite over yet but it is definitely September.
September…back to school for kids; back to class for employees.

It is nice to see the kids returning to “in-school” learning. And while we continue to offer virtual training, it's nice to see so many of our MCE clients requesting face-to-face training for their employees. We are happy to accommodate either way. The important thing is that employees are given the opportunity to learn.

Did you know, that according to Mark C. Perna, a Forbes Magazine contributor,
“76% of employees are more likely to stay with a company that offers continuous training?” Other studies show the figure as high as 93%. Professional development has always been known as a retention factor. It is even more critical in today’s “post-covid” and “great resignation” world.

Continuous professional development not only boosts retention, but it also increases employee confidence in themselves which directly improves their ability to deal with challenging situations and people. As a result, customer service and productivity also increase.

Want to attract and retain top talent? Offer opportunities to learn and grow. We’ve listed a few below in our 'What's Up and Coming.'

A message from
Audie McCarthy | President & CEO
P.S. Did you know there are over 60 songs written about September? Enjoy September, don’t sleep through it like Billie Joe ….

“Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends”

City of Hamilton Alumni Unite
Hamilton Alumni Event
Past grads of Future Ready Leadership got together for a couple of hours of 'reconnecting' as more are returning to the office. Hosted by super facilitator Bob Jones with Marci Ruhl on emcee duties, a lot of reconnections were made through team games and work scenarios.

Seen here is Robert Lalli, Director of Strategic Initiatives. Monica Ciriello, Director of Licensing and By-Law Services, and James Buffett, Manager, Parking Enforcement and School Safety, also gave first-hand accounts of their learning experiences. Photos and video of the event can be seen HERE.
