April 23, 2026

Greetings!

Many individuals that face challenges with mental health symptoms have found that creating art can be used as a therapy and can have positive effects on their condition. A regular practice of creating art can be nurturing for relieving stress, increasing confidence, and supporting general mental health wellness in everyone. The Zentangle Method is a simple and powerful way to access creativity and opens doorways to our creative abilities, and the artist within each of us. Using simple steps and basic strokes, anyone can create beautiful images using the Zentangle Method.

Every year, to support Mental Health Awareness Month, we release our Bijou Be Well series. This is a 21-day Zentangle challenge that encourages you to pause, breathe, and make space for yourself through small, meaningful moments of creativity.

In our 2026 series, along with a daily reminder to tangle, we will share a collection of studies, articles, and stories exploring creativity and its benefits for mental well-being.

How to Participate

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

This year, we will be working on a Zentangle Opus tile to create one cohesive work of Zentangle art. We have carefully curated this years Bijou Be Well Bundles to include everything you need for this journey.

Bijou's Be Well Bundles contain 2 Opus Tiles and assorted tools to tangle with specific for each surface. Each glassine envelope also contains three Bijouisms selected just for you. Choose from white and tan Opus tiles, black Opus tiles or Translucen-Z Opus tiles.

If you do not have a Zentangle Opus tile, we encourage you to follow along with that you have at home, but purchasing supplies directly supports the production of the Bijou Be Well Series. We thank you for your thoughtful contribution toward making this important series possible.

Step 2: Mark Your Calendars

Beginning Monday, May 11th through the 31st, we will send a newsletter each day with a tangling prompt, paired with studies, articles and stories exploring the benefits of creativity. We suggest setting aside 10-15 minutes a day for yourself to tangle.

Step 3: Allow your pen to soothe your soul

This year, we encourage you to step away from your screen, ground yourself in your space, and create without expectation. We will launch the series with an introductory video to get you organized and informed on the process. Each consecutive day after that, we will release simple instructions and a step-out of a tangle to guide you in filling your Opus tile. If the step out is not enough, and you are looking for some more guidance, we will also provide a video of each tangle from some of our previous Bijou Be Well series (we are in a Time Machine this year, after all!). We will conclude the series with a wrap-up video that ties it all together.
