“This free registration service is not just about recovery — it's about prevention,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “I’m proud to have championed this change, and I encourage every cyclist in Winnipeg to register their bike with 529 Garage. It's quick, it's easy, and it connects you to a global network dedicated to bike security.”


Bike data registered with 529 Garage is accessible by jurisdictions across the world, including the City of Winnipeg. The City will access users’ contact information from 529 Garage when attempting to return recovered bikes.

JOIN A BEGINNER BIKE RIDE! - TOUR DE WPL

Saturday, May 25 @ 10:30am-12:00pm

Nervous about riding your bike in the city? Want some safety tips and to explore a new route with others? Join a beginner bike ride! Starting at Cornish Library the route will take you on bike trails and city streets as you make your way to Millennium Library and then to St. Boniface Library on a one-way tour.

In honour of Winnipeg’s 150 anniversary, interesting stories from each library will be included in the tour.

Participants are encouraged to provide their own helmets, dress for the weather and arrive on time.

A waiver will be required to participate. For adults only.

May 16 - June 20

Whether you're a beginner or looking to advance your skills, there's something for everyone.

Get empowered with bike repair workshops, taught by experienced mechanics. Learn the basics of bike maintenance, from tire changes to brake adjustments, all the way to complete tear downs and rebuilds, keep your ride in top-notch condition.

Adults - 6 week, hands on.

MELLOW VELO

Come learn how to fix your bike! Operating on the last Sunday of the month, Mellow Velo is one of our safe(r) space offerings for women, trans, non-binary, and two-spirit individuals to access the tools, parts and knowledge needed to repair bicycles! If you have ever felt uncomfortable, intimidated or unsafe in male-dominated bike shop spaces because of your gender identity/expression – this is for you.

CAA Manitoba's Bike Tune Up Day

June 1 @ 9:00am -2:00pm Are you ready for bicycling season?! We can help! CAA Manitoba, in collaboration with Bike Winnipeg, The WRENCH and Valour Community Centre, will host its 3rd annual free Bike Tune-Up Day. Bring your bicycle for a free tune-up, and learn basics so you’re prepared to do your own tune-up in the years ahead. Come with the kids and their bikes. We’ll have snacks and juice boxes available as well!

The count is a chance to evaluate the state of cycling in our communities. Together we get a “snapshot” of what cycling looks like in communities across Canada, at the same time, year over year. 

The data collected helps build the case for more, and better, cycling infrastructure. This growing data set is there for everyone to use to advocate for access to safe cycling choices for everyone, everywhere.
