Biker Poetry Contest Aims To Peel Back The Leather
Toronto’s First International Biker Poetry Contest promises to stir crowds during live readings of moto-passions, in prose.

Toronto, Ontario (4 April 2019) – The 1st Annual Toronto International Biker Poetry Contest, a feature of the Toronto Spring Motorcycle Show, presented by RidersPlus Insurance, takes place this coming Saturday, April 6th at the Toronto International Centre. Hoping to show a different side to the often-stereotyped motorcycle rider, the Contest encouraged motorcyclists to put their passion for riding into words for a chance to read their poetry in front of an audience of fellow riders and Show-goers.

Three selected finalists in each of the Biker Men and Biker Ladies’ categories will perform their original motorcycle-themed poems on Stage at 12:30 pm. A panel of judges will be on the stage to score each poem and declare the winner of each category. Audience reaction will be factored into the scoring. On the panel is J. Barrett “Bear” Wolf, a published author and member of the Highway Poets Motorcycle Club in New York, and Kelsey Knight who makes her living composing “Poems of the Moment” on a 1930 Royal manual typewriter.

Contest organizers were thrilled with the response to this very first invitation to motorcyclists to unleash their inner poets. The entries revealed a very diverse range of emotions and creativity which will be apparent at the on-stage readings. Later on Saturday, at 4:30 pm, J. Barret “Bear” Wolf will host a Motorcycle Poetry Open Mike session where all contestants will be given the microphone to recite their poems.
