Letter from the President
Mother nature clearly has a sense of humor and just when you think spring is in sight, she shows us just who is in control.
Our chapters in Nevada, Arizona saw record snow levels and arctic cold temperatures and then in a blink of an eye, they were back to the 60-70 degree temperatures. The mountains of Colorado are still getting snow, and today March 7th, Colorado riders could be seen riding in my town of Lakewood.
February was a very busy month for Arizona and Nevada and are sadly experiencing a steady stream of injured riders and fatalities. If there is a possibility of pulling good news out of the tragedies our riders are experiencing, the media and general community are beginning to recognize the need for bans on handheld devices, harsher penalties for texting and driving, as well as more enforcement on existing distracting laws that prohibit the use of cell phones while driving.
BikerDown feels it is important to put more skin in the game and help fight for biker's rights and to bring more attention to driver of cars/trucks driving distracted which is hurting and killing our motorcycle riders.
Please remember if you know of anyone who has been injured in a motorcycle accident, please do a help request at
www.bikerdown.org.
We will do all that we can to help families get thru this stressful time.
