BikerDown: If You Go Down - We Step Up!

Letter from the President
Mother nature clearly has a sense of humor and just when you think spring is in sight, she shows us just who is in control.
Our chapters in Nevada, Arizona saw record snow levels and arctic cold temperatures and then in a blink of an eye, they were back to the 60-70 degree temperatures.  The mountains of Colorado are still getting snow, and today March 7th, Colorado riders could be seen riding in my town of Lakewood.
February was a very busy month for Arizona and Nevada and are sadly experiencing a steady stream of injured riders and fatalities.  If there is a possibility of pulling good news out of the tragedies our riders are experiencing, the media and general community are beginning to recognize the need for bans on handheld devices, harsher penalties for texting and driving, as well as more enforcement on existing distracting laws that prohibit the use of cell phones while driving.
BikerDown feels it is important to put more skin in the game and help fight for biker's rights and to bring more attention to driver of cars/trucks driving distracted which is hurting and killing our motorcycle riders.
Please remember if you know of anyone who has been injured in a motorcycle accident, please do a help request at www.bikerdown.org.   We will do all that we can to help families get thru this stressful time.

BikerDown - Arizona
It has been a busy month for our chapter in Arizona.  Our community has sadly suffered 3 fatalities in the Phoenix area.
Last week we hosted our Introduction dinner to the Arizona riders and the response was extremely welcoming and positive.
BikerDown attended AMSAF's Riding for the Long Haul and networked with other like minded organizations who are focused on motorcycle safety and working at the legislative level to continue pushing for a ban on texting and driving as well as ban on handheld mobile devices.  We feel these are the groups/organizations we need to work with to further get the message out to general public
BikerDown's membership program is continuing to grow in Arizona and we hope that more riders will consider stepping up with BikerDown and helping us help riders's better.
If you have any interest in volunteering or would like more information about BikerDown, please email BDArizona@bikerdown.org.

BikerDown Colorado continues to work hard for the riding community that we have served for 8 years.
As many of you may already know, BikerDown Colorado has worked with the Randy Run for Fallen bikers for a number of years.  It has been a strong relationship that in 2018 RRFB and BD partnered together to Help Biker's Better.
On February 23rd, Randy Savely and the board of the Randy Run dissolved their non-profit with the retiring of Randy.  I am happy to announce that the board members including Randy presented BikerDown Colorado with a check in the amount of $16,961.00 which is the final proceeds of their fund.
In the spirit of the Randy Run, BD Colorado will utilize these funds in the same fashion as the RRFB.  This will enable us to help riders with larger grants than we normally can with our accident fund.  We are humbled at the faith the board of the RRFB has given to BikerDown Colorado.

BikerDown Nevada
The biker community in Las Vegas continue to be overwhelmed with motorcycle tragedies.
Most recently Jose "Pico" Gonzalez was un-necessarily killed in a motorcycle accident.  The riding community has surrounded his family with love and support.
BikerDown LasVegas assisted the family with our BDFundme fundraising platform and with the overwhelming number of donations that came in, next week on March 14th, BD Las Vegas will present the family with the funds that were raised.
BD Las Vegas was honored to be a part of trying to assist this family at a time when they needed us the most.   If anyone would still like to donate, please go visit our BDFundMe page for Jose.

Need to fundraise try our BDFundme for social media fundraising!!!
BikerDown's  BD FundMe  is continuing to help injured riders fundraise at a much lower credit card processing rate. BD FundMe is the exact same process as GoFundMe or other social fundraising platforms, except that BD has a 2.6% processing fee versus GoFundMe and other charging 8.5% .  This has a substantial savings and BikerDown has already found it extremely successful in helping injured riders raise funds.
