Rotary Sentosa Bikeathon Giveaway

A spectacular morning of giving away 1018 bicycles by RC Sentosa Singapore to 212 schools was held at the Provincial Teacher Training Campus( PTTC) in Siem Reap. The inspiring event was flawlessly organized by the hard working staff of CCDO. The bikes were given to disabled and poor children who live far from their schools. Each bike was labeled with the child’s name and they were each given a slip of paper to claim their bike.

The event was attended by her Excellency Moniraingsei, Deputy Provincial Governor of Siem Reap Province as well as Mr. Lim Bunna, Director of Provincial Education, Youth and Sports of Siem Reap Province and 26 Rotarians from Singapore as well as RC District Governors from Malaysia and Brunei accompanied by our President and Founder Jenni Lipa

The Rotarians proudly tied each donor’s sign to each bike. The impressive ceremony went off without a hitch and was covered by 3 Cambodian TV stations in their nightly news.

Adopt a School Program

RC Sentosa, together with RC Global Grants, have so far donated 49 toilet blocks installed in rural schools. The modern and clean toilets are a vital step in improving the school facilities. The Adopt a School program (under the guidance of Rotarian Abe Jacob) is adding other educational enhancements to the schools by supplying computer labs as well as giving away study materials and sports equipment to the schools.

This year, 3 schools were selected as recipients, Ta Ey High School with 909 pupils, Mukh Pean Primary School with 450 students and Porpel Secondary School with 250 students. Singapore's excellent educational system affords their children consistent top performance in international testing and we are happy to learn from their example.

Each event was attended by local authorities who expressed thanks to RC Sentosa, for helping the children stay in school and achieve their dreams.

Staff News

After the successful Rotarian visit Jenni Lipa treated CCDO staff and their families treated to an unlimited BBQ of seafood and meats along with sodas and ice cream. We are very lucky to have such a dedicated team that always rises up to any challenge.

Donors

Once again, longtime donors, Beth and Kevin Hoffman, donated $7,850 to build 10 wells, 10 latrines and adopt 2 school libraries

These wells and latrines will be built in honor of our CCDO staff with signs dedicated to each staff member as a lasting acknowledgment of their commitment to improving the lives of their fellow Cambodians.

Jim Riley, visited our projects. Jim has generously donated wells and a preschool and was impressed with the CCDO Dream Team, as he was able to experience first hand, the impact of his donations. He is fully committed to continue uplifting the lives of Cambodian children and their families. Thank you Jim, it was an honor and joy to welcome you.
