The typewriter along with Franklin High School principal David Amerman located the grant, wrote, and applied for the grant in hopes that the many civic and service organizations would help match volunteer labor with needs.
The grant evolved into the Livonia Office of Volunteer Energies under the direction of Joan Duggan and then Sue Wisler. The program evolved into the Community Resources Department under the direction of Linda McCann.
It is time to once again bring community civic and service organizations into one coordinated council, staffed and administered. Families move into town and are immediately provided with a list of how they can be engaged and take ownership of their new hometown.
One idea with one dollar can go so far. Twenty ideas with twenty dollars can go that much further.
The decade of the 2020's can be known as coordinating our volunteer services in a big way. Let's re-establish a Livonia Office of Volunteer Energies and showcase our LOVE to other communities in western Wayne County.
