Livonia holds Mother/Son and Daddy/Daughter dances this month Greenleaf Commission on Sustainability 2022 Greenleaf Award Nomination Announcement  “Greenleaf encourages energy efficiency, conservation and environmentally friendly practices in the City of Livonia” 2022 City of Livonia Greenleaf Award – Call For Nominations An environmentally responsible community is the result of extraordinary actions. Do you know a Livonia-based business that is demonstrating environmental leadership? Now is the time to let the rest of our community know.  The Greenleaf Commission and the Livonia Chamber of Commerce present the Greenleaf Award in recognition of actions that direct the City of Livonia to a sustainable future. By celebrating these achievements, our goal is to inspire other Livonia businesses to undertake environmentally responsible actions. Shakespeare in the Park. Has the time come for Livonia to host Shakespeare? Musings readers say Yes. The voting was 3 to 1 in support of Livonia hosting a Shakespeare in the Park during 2022. Let's see if there is interest from Livonia Parks and Recreation to partner with a community organization to bring us Shakespeare in the Park. YES 77.5% No 22.5% Seedlings: By the Numbers In 2021, Seedlings sent out 35,373 braille books and articles (an increase of almost 20% over 2020). 63% of those braille books were given away completely FREE of charge! They have shipped 644,258 braille books since 1985! They are so appreciative of the support received and can’t wait to top these numbers in 2022! Deck the Rec Winners Congrats to the Deck the Rec winners! Hidden Spring Veterinary Clinic and Livonia Councilman Brandon McCullough tied for the top votes received at the Kirksey Recreation Center. All three will receive a gift card from our sponsor, Livonia Save Our Youth Coalition. Thanks to all who participated in this festive event.

Relax and Enjoy Voces8 Members of VOCES8 (Livonia's Blake Morgan on solo) perform Don McLean's tribute to artist Vincent Van Gogh. This performance was part of the ensemble's opening concert 'Stardust' for Live From London Summer Festival 2021, broadcast from the VOCES8 Centre on the 4th July 2021.

Come Check out the Livonia Recreation Center Swing by the Kirksey Recreation Center from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, to get a taste of everything the facility has to offer during an open house to kick off the new year! Get a feel for all the benefits of being a member by learning about or participating in open swim, open play, open basketball, yoga classes, kids club activities, check out Kid Quarters and the Tree Fort indoor playscape, Nerf Night, group fitness classes, wellness coaching, youth classes and a variety of other programs. We’ll have raffles, giveaways, and a lot of fun! This event is open to everyone, regardless of residency or current membership status. Entry is FREE for Livonia residents and $3 for non-residents.
