The City of Livonia has Released a New and Improved Annual Report for 2020. The new design tells the story of an unforgettable year.


The report takes on a new format this year, telling a data-rich story of the City’s work.

“This new presentation of our annual report is aimed at making the results of a year of hard work by dedicated public servants more accessible to the residents we are honored to serve,” said Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan. “I am extremely proud of the work our team at the City of Livonia has done this year, and I know you will feel similar pride after reviewing this year’s report.”

“This report documents the scale of our City government’s staggering work this year, while also reviewing special initiatives such as Together Livonia Cares and our progress in diversity and inclusivity,” Mayor Brosnan said. “While it is impossible to document all the remarkable work done, the report helps highlight the many exciting things happening in our City.”

My vision is not about working together or returning to normal. What confounds me the most is people not being kind. It does not take a lot of effort and it can be very rewarding.
 
As we watch our society splinter it seems an underlying theme is always looking at what others do wrong versus what we ourselves do.

I believe all communities survive or have longevity because they coexist and find ways to listen, learn, and be kind.
 
Kindness does not mean giving in. It does not mean not standing up for your beliefs. It does not mean that you let people get away with things they should not.
 
Kindness is respect. For others. Color, creed, orientation, gender does not matter to a kind person.
 
Kindness is also knowing you have done your best to be a partner in the race, the human race.
 
Think of others from time to time, give a little to those less fortunate, help those who struggle, seek concepts and advice from others, listen.
 
Be kind.

Chuck Dardas raises a concept that has played a significant role in Livonia since our inception as a city in 1950 and as a Township in 1835. We were known as a caring, tolerant community that offered the right framework for building Livonia's future making the community winners for decades.

It was our parents, grandparents, and others who came before us who left us a Livonia legacy of opportunity and hope and who served as our inspiration. We seek now to renew this inheritance for our children and grandchildren who can and should embrace the legacy left them.

Chuck Dardas is right on point.
Partnerships continue to benefit Livonia

FridayMusings is offering up another smile as we learn that McLaren Engineering has partnered with Livonia Kids & Families to provide children's winter clothing outfits including shirts, shoes, coats, hats, and gloves.
Another way in which the Livonia business community stands tall in support of our hometown and in partnership with one of the key non-profit organizations working to network for the benefit of Livonia.

LKF is a registered 501 (c)(3) working to better the lives of children and families in need here in Livonia.
Tamara Oliverio: I second the idea of a Livonia Youth Forum!! Our children have felt helpless and out of control about everything in their lives since the pandemic began. Giving them the opportunity to be on a community forum to create / ideate would give them a voice and a way to make a positive difference. I truly do think this would be a great way to help our kids heal and grow in a positive way. I recommend including kids from various age groups...not just high school. It’ll also be a great way for our community leaders to gain first-hand insights to inform community development/growth initiatives. Fantastic idea Bill!

Michael Testa: I really like the idea of a Youth Forum as well. I also appreciate Rep. Pohutsky's comments about making Livonia more attractive for all ages and glad that she sees this as a priority. These are both areas that the City, Business Community, and LPS could collaborate on.

Chris Last: Encouraging to see the ideas of providing the youth the means to "grow". Be it through a forum or through an extended means to expose them to fresh ideas that educate them and directly connect them in the process. The reward of their efforts going beyond a "good grade" but also a lasting positive impact they will share for years to come.
