FridayMusings readers last week overwhelmingly spoke out in our online poll saying that "YES" Livonia should have a Shakespeare in the Park this coming summer. Many wrote in saying they thought it would be cool. Well, apparently our Livonia Parks and Recreation partnering with Livonia Community Theatre agree and has set auditions and call back dates for Romeo and Juliet.

Drop-in auditions are set for February 18, 19, 20 with callbacks set for February 27. Production dates are July 29, 30, 31. Look for a major announcement next week on the partnership for funding.

Next year Livonia should host an
MLK Freedom Walk. Start planning now.

Several years ago and for several years before that Livonia hosted a Martin Luther King program that included guest speakers, and high school singers. It might be time to come up with a full day of MLK service opportunities, volunteerism, the Madonna University program, Livonia Bennett Civic Center Library program with a reading of the "I have a Dream" speech, interpretive reading by CAPA.

You get the point. It is time for Livonia to join our neighbors, Westland and Dearborn in hosting a day honoring MLK.

COVID rapid tests can now be ordered

State Representative Laurie Pohutsky passes along that "COVID rapid tests can be ordered at https://covidtests.gov at no cost. A maximum of 4 can be ordered, but the Biden administration is also working with local governments to get additional tests to the areas that need them using means other than the internet."

A slight bias as son Paul of Colorado fame was the co-producer of this 14 minute, 2012 Kid Rock and Sean Penn statement about cooperation even if you are on opposite sides of an issue.

This needs to be a part of the Livonia Return to a Better Normal.

Week 1 is in the books!! The first integration meeting of our Robotics team in over 2 years was in their own description "amazing."

Each squad shared their progress and Imagery announced several robot name options.

Cora Rolfes - Stevenson High School - Junior describes the competition this way:

"This year’s game is Rapid React. Two teams are competing to process balls, or cargo, for transportation. They do this by carrying either the red or blue cargo, based on alliance, and depositing it into the upper hub or lower hub for points. The lower hub is worth less points than the higher hub.

"There is also a human player component that can assist with cargo retrieval and with scoring, before the robots race to the hangars in the final seconds of the match, scaling rungs for points."
