n the next ten years I will work to make Livonia better by supporting and pushing for engagement:
1. Walking and bike paths that connect our community neighborhoods and parks. Tatigian Trail (pictured with Harry Tatigian at the Trail dedication) was a great success, but a very small part of the plan. Imagine a 20 Mile Livonia Loop that would allow people to appreciate our many parks and neighborhoods while supporting local businesses and appreciating creative works displayed along the way.
2. A destination Greenmead that you know will always have something happening: festivals, activities, learning. A Greenmead where you will run into friends and neighbors. A Greenmead where you will be able to sit down and enjoy a coffee or cider and donuts any time of the year. A Greenmead that will act as a creative space for those people who want to express their talents. A Greenmead where each Livonia student will attend school in a one-room schoolhouse for a day and learn about the history of their hometown.
3. A realized Livonia 21 that creates a walkable engaging district at Farmington and Five Mile that integrates government and community. The entire city campus should be a park atmosphere where we engage to express our individual priorities and work together to accomplish big goals.
4. Expand the neighborhood grant program (my favorite accomplishment during my time on council) to engage and beautify at a grand scale. Each neighborhood should be known for its distinctiveness and be inviting for others to enjoy.
5. Most importantly, work with each other so we understand and gain empathy for each other's backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives. I do not think we always need to agree, but we need to understand each other.
To accomplish any of our goals and make Livonia better we will have to work together: people, organizations, businesses, city, and schools.
