Livonia:
A hometown 2021 Goals
2021 goal for Livonia offered

Mid-December 2020. The middle of a pandemic and my hometown is starting a new tradition of holiday nights, in the Greenfield Village tradition. We packed up the car and drove the one mile up to Greenmead historical park.
While it was in its infancy, and near closing on a Sunday night, we still had a grand time but kept wondering, what if...
I’ve lived in Livonia for nearly 46 years and have been visiting Greenmead since the early ’80s with my grandfather who had one of the large community garden plots would take my brother and me there either before or after a trip to Chuck E Cheese.
I’ve also participated in about 10 twice-annual flea markets on the grounds, which are quite the hit with the community and its neighbors.
So, I’m no stranger to Greenmead but always felt there could be more. I’m also the offspring of two US History teachers, so history is in my “blood,” so to speak.
When former mayor Dennis Wright ran on a platform to create a live music/theater amphitheater somewhere in Livonia, I was all aboard and assisted in his campaign.
Unfortunately, the amphitheater never came to be, and Music From the Heart (formerly Music Under the Stars) was relegated to the flat, uninspiring area outside of City Hall.
My family loved MUTS, as we called it, and went to nearly everyone when it was over by the old courthouse.
