How symbolic was the unofficial puck drop with Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan, Councilman Brandon McCullough, Hall of Fame Red Wing Mickey Redman, and representing a future generation Noah Macy and Harper McCullough?
Just like Livonia.
Celebrating our:
Past. Current. Future.

LCCABL sponsors free brake light repair
|
Livonia Citizens Caring About Black Lives (LCCABL), in partnership with the Livonia Equity & Anti-Racism Network (LEARN) is hosting a clinic to change your tail and brake lights free of charge.
We began hosting this public service event in October 2020 after Livonia Police released traffic citation and arrest data through their PACT data site.
This service aims to prevent unnecessary and costly traffic stops for civilians. According to LCCABL this service also supports LPD by "reducing their workload as the majority of "policing" in Livonia is focused on low-level traffic offenses such as air-freshener obstructed views, dirty license plates, broken tail lights."
By reducing the opportunity for police stops LCCABL works toward its goal of “public safety for all”.
They will have the most common brake lights on hand and trained volunteers there to help install.
Reserve a spot at their clinic, and let them know what make and model of car you are bringing. They will do their best to get your lights working, but cannot guarantee that they will be able to solve any underlying wiring issues.
The time slots are in 15-minute intervals starting at 11:30 AM, with the last one at 4:15 PM. They will also be serving "walk-ins" as time permits.

Keep your Lansing dark money out of Livonia city council elections
|
Having received a Michigan Future First mailing with a Lansing address, attacking Dan Centers, Carrie Budzinski, and Ken Overwater, attacking with the same spurious arguments similar to those made two years ago against Maureen Brosnan and Brandon McCullough, statements out of context or without the full story, I am repeating my supportive statements for Centers, Budzinski, Overwater in the hopes that you will consider these three when you vote for City Council.
|
These arguments did not work 2 years ago and let's send a clear message that they will not win this year either.
Stand up and tell this Lansing group that has no knowledge of Livonia to butt out. Vote for who you want but vote for someone not against someone because of unsubstantiated statements from Lansing with dark money.
|
Ken Overwater is an experienced attorney and public defender for Washtenaw County. He has deep roots in Southeast Michigan and a long history of helping individuals from under-served communities find a better path forward. Ken promises to focus on COVID recovery and responsible development in the city, public safety for everyone in Livonia, accessibility, and a transparent, efficient city government.
|
Carrie Budzinski has served on multiple committees in Livonia, and is a champion of the Livonia Public Libraries and Parks throughout the city. Carrie's unique perspective as a mother, woman of color, and focus on public safety, sustainability, and equity is sorely missing on the current City Council. We believe that Carrie will work hard to fill those gaps and create a better Livonia for everyone.
|
Dan Centers is a fourth generation Livonia resident and is currently serving his third term on the Livonia School Board. He has a history of putting student resources first, retaining the best teachers, and improving the financial wellbeing of the district. He's received multiple awards for his work and promises to bring the same enthusiasm and commitment to the Livonia City Council.
