This year, Sip & Support will be a seated tasting that includes six, delicious appetizer and wine pairings curated by Fleming’s Steakhouse for just $75 per ticket.
Seating will be tables of four to six people, and guests will sit only with their group. Expect mask and social distancing rules in place.

Mercy Health, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System recognize employee dedication with improved benefits which includes minimum wage to $15 an hour.
This increase will benefit more than 2,100 full and part-time employees across Trinity Health Michigan hospitals and its medical groups including IHA, St. Joe’s Medical Group and Mercy Health Physician Partners.
Positions that will receive this new pay rate include non-union environmental services, medical assistants, patient companions, food and retail services, transporters, and other positions.
In addition, an additional 6,000 employees in the $15-$19 an hour pay range will have their wage adjusted in order to maintain meaningful distinctions in pay. These additional wage increases improve the compensation levels for a significant number of employees, and help retain and attract talented individuals in critical roles throughout the health system.
Other enhanced benefits include no increases in medical health plan premium contributions for employees across Trinity Health for 2021.
For Trinity Health retirement programs, the 3% core contribution and employer match will continue throughout the 2020 and 2021 benefit years. Trinity Health is increasing the base minimum of its core contributions from $1,200 to $1,400 for calendar year 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge the health care industry. Like many organizations, Trinity Health Michigan is focused on ways to meet its financial stewardship goals while investing in the most important resource—its employees.

Annual wage increases are still planned for 2020-2021 for all eligible employees, as a reflection of the health system's commitment to maintaining competitive wages.

Covid Seasonal Disorder

I have it. I caught it. I don't know what to do to rid myself of the Covid Seasonal Disorder.
I don't like to make, return or accept phone calls.
I hesitate to open my emails for fear I will have to read and respond.
Facebook? Whereas I would open and scroll at 4:00 every morning shortly after I wake, I now wait as long as I can.
I could go to dinner at 4:00 in the afternoon while sitting outside. Now I don't because I have to sit inside.
So now I spend time, unshaven, going through my political memorabilia. Living in the past. Not healthy. Fun, but not healthy.

The President of the United States talks about me when he wants to cull the herd. Wants us to ignore the covid and go about our life. Hey, only the old and infirmed will die.
What does he care, he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for care that will never be available to me.
I have to write every day. Fewer events for me to attend. No symphony. No chorus. No live theatre. Movies are B rated at best.
I have read three books in the last week. Have started putting the weight back on I lost by working in the yard this summer.
I have Covid Seasonal Disorder with little likelihood of it disappearing until the crocus arrive in the spring.
I ride my bike and will until the snow falls. And yes I can walk the trails at Maybury or Rotary Park. But I have started talking with the trees and squirrels.
I loved summer and am enjoying fall. But it is coming. Indoors.
Almost a year of fear. Concern. Doom and gloom on television when I dare to listen.
I loved the music I have found on my old CD's. Have listened to Woodstock over 100 times.
I have Covid Seasonal Disorder.

Wanting to check out neighborhoods to see the proliferation of yard signs the bodyguard and typewriter headed out to Livonia's historic Rosedale Gardens.
Forget the yard signs, of which there were dozens, the yards were so decorated for Halloween.
So much fun. So much to look at. The bodyguard was so motivated that the front porch at the Musings Estate was dressed appropriately including the broom.

When it comes to public safety Laurie Pohutsky has Livonia's back |
When our neighbors are admitted to the hospital nurses are there to provide care.
When we are in an auto accident our first responder EMT's and firefighters are there to provide care.
When our law enforcement officers are called to reduce crime they require active support and assistance of citizens and communities.

The Michigan Nurses Association, the Michigan Professional Firefighters Union and the Fraternal Order of Police have each endorsed the re-election of Laurie Pohutsky as Livonia's State Representative.
Some talk about supporting our first responders but nurses, firefighters and law enforcement officers know that through her actions Laurie Pohutsky has their back and the backs of every Livonia resident.

LIVONIA BULK LEAF PICKUP STARTS NEXT WEEK, OCT. 26
Each fall, the City assists residents with their leaf removal through a bulk leaf pickup program. The Bulk Leaf Program begins the week of Oct. 26.
The collection program provides residents with help in removing the large majority of their leaves raked out to the curb, which will allow the resident to use the weekly trash collection service to dispose of residual leaves. Leaf pick up typically begins at the end of October and runs through the beginning of December.
Leaves ONLY - no grass or twigs: Don’t use plastic bags. Don’t rake leaves into ditches. Allow space between the curb and the leaves to allow for storm drainage.
ALL SCHEDULES ARE TENTATIVE: Look for red scheduling signs posted 3-6 days prior to the scheduled pickup. Leaf pickup begins at 7 a.m. each day.
Vehicles parked in the street must be moved during the collection week.

Since we couldn't do our carnival or Touch a Truck this year, we are doing this as a fundraiser and would hope you could help publicize it for us.

Should be great fun for the family and help Rotary Intl get rid of the last two countries with active polio cases (Afghanistan and Pakistan). Even in this pandemic year there are ways to support our hometown service clubs who continue to support Livonia.
