State Representative Laurie Pohutsky and Attorney General Dana Nessel invite you to a Town Hall Meeting Payroll Fraud in Michigan, October 28th
Join Attorney General Dana Nessel and Representative Laurie Pohutsky for a town hall on addressing payroll fraud in Michigan Monday, October 28, 6:00 - 7:00, at Madonna University, Fran Building - Suchyta Hall
Payroll fraud is a crime that happens when companies fail to pay workers the wages, overtime, and benefits they're owed. One in five Michigan households fall victim to payroll fraud, costing families across Michigan hundreds of millions of dollars - and they might not even know it. And that is precisely why the Attorney General established her Payroll Fraud Enforcement Unit.

Employees must be vigilant, know their rights and responsibilities - and their employer's obligations.

Join Attorney General Nessel and Representative Pohutsky for this town hall to learn about Michigan's Payroll Fraud Enforcement Unit and how to spot and stop payroll fraud in Michigan.

Tail Waggers celebrate November 2nd
Tail Wagger's 1990, a local non-profit organization, is inviting the community to celebrate their 30th Anniversary by participating in the Tail Wagger's Bowl! Saturday, November 2 nd marks the day that Woodland Lanes in Livonia will be filled with excitement as the fun begins with the 4:30 p.m. squad and again with an 8:00 p.m. squad.

The $25 per adult and $15 per child entry fee includes 3-games of bowling, dinner provided by Kara's House and entry into mystery game to win donated prizes from local businesses. Grand prizes are awarded to those that raise the most money in each squad.

A Strolling Raffle with a chance to win donated baskets from many creative supporters and businesses will add to the excitement along with 50/50 drawings at each squad. For those that cannot make it to the event, the Strolling Raffle baskets are being displayed in the Tail Wagger's Wellness Center at 28418 Five Mile Rd. in Livonia up until the event date. Tickets may be purchased in the Wellness Center with winners being drawn at the event during the 8:00 p.m
squad. Tickets range from $2.00/a piece to the Anniversary Special of $30 for 30 Tickets.

Participants, both adults and kids, will enjoy a heart-warming day, hear the stories and get a chance to meet the alumni animals from throughout the years. It's a day of celebration where animal lovers come together to raise money for the Organization that focuses on affordable preventative pet care and pet food assistance.

Founder, Laura Zain says that "It's hard to believe that we are celebrating our 30 th year with the same signature fundraiser that created the foundation for what we stand for today. The thousands of animals that walk thru our door each year are staying healthy because we make it affordable for pet owners - "Helping People Help Animals" is what we do best!

For more information on Tail Wagger's 1990 or to register for the event visit the website at www.tailwaggers1990.org . If you have questions, contact Laura Zain at 734-855-4077 or by e-mail [email protected] .

Veterans Day Weekend, Women and War this November 8, 9, 10
This Spring A Piece of My Heart April 25, 26, 27
Women in War November 8, 9, 10 only at our Livonia Community Theatre exclusively being performed at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.

Through correspondence and monologues, in the style of reader's theater, this one act play by Jack Hilton Cunningham is a collection of fictional stories based on historical fact, told by generations of Americans impacted by conflict from The Great War to the War in Afghanistan. From housewife to worker, young bride to nurse, mother to widow, and now, young woman to soldier, these are tales of sacrifice, love, determination and hope told by those who bravely persevere on the home front and on the battlefield.

Critics Say:

"Deeply touching and educational...this play is an emotional roller coaster. These accounts are moving...funny, exciting, humbling, and incredibly sad all at the same time." - The Easy

"Awe inspiring. Playwright Cunningham is a magician delivering the internal voices of multiple generations of women who've served as wives, nurses, sweethearts and officers spanning from WWI to Afghanistan. Women and War is essential theater. A moving and poignant scrapbook of the American war experience." - United Stages

See you at the Spaghetti Dinner this Thursday, October 24th
Dennis Nazelli accepts a challenge from the typewriter and has 10 tickets he purchased ready for you to use. Nice Guy. Read on.
These folks not only turned out great spaghettu last year but
threw  in the smiles to go with it.
Last year the combined Rotary Clubs sponsored a community Spaghetti Dinner. It was a fun evening with a great crowd, great food, great conversation and all for a great cause.

Did I mention a great crowd?

Once again this year they will be at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church and are inviting you to join them for another great crowd, great food, great conversation and all for a great cause.

Did I mention a great cause?

Join me at the dinner as well. I will be there for some great food and  to support two of our outstanding, networking Rotary service clubs.

Did I mention great food?

I have purchased 10 tickets for the Spaghetti Dinner and the first 10 readers of Musings
that email me at [email protected] will get tickets with my compliments. I posted this on Friday and have three left. Seems most people write and say they are going to purchase a ticket for only $10.

Dennis Nazelli was inspired by this 'typewriter' in the previous Musings edition to promote the Rotary Club's Spaghetti Dinner, went out and purchased 10 tickets to the Rotary Spaghetti Dinner and will offer them to the first ten supporters of Maureen Miller Brosnan for Livonia Mayor by contacting him at  [email protected].

My mother, Geraldine Joyner, was the second woman on the Livonia Board of Education, 1965, but the first elected Trustee as the first woman Strelsa Schriber was appointed. Either way these were two trailblazing women in building an outstanding educational system. But I am biased.

My point. Biased that is. At 3 years of age, 1923, mom was diagnosed with polio. Spent much of her childhood in and out of the Shriners Hospital in San Francisco, an hour drive from her home in Patterson. Eventually had part of her hip removed to add to one of her legs, to lengthen it.

She rarely wanted to talk about it and refused to get a handicap sticker for years, saying that she was not handicapped. The only sign was the leg brace she wore her entire life.

Polio had an impact on her and her family. So Rotary had me hooked at "eradicating polio." And of course spaghetti dinner did't hurt.

Polio cases have been reduced by 99.9% worldwide since 1988. But continuing efforts to end the disease are critical to eradicating polio for good. Rotary has helped immunized over 2.5 billion children in the world's most sophisticated global health initiative. Help them make history by getting to zero.

We have a lot going on in our hometown on the 24th of October but it is my belief that we have 95,000 folks calling Livonia home. And you have to eat dinner. So why not join us for a great cause with great food with great conversation.. I said that before but I thought it would be great to say it again. A great cause with great food.

Have you purchased your raffle ticket yet?
Only 300 tickets available!!
