Clerk Susan Nash updates on election totals
|
Livonia came out strong yesterday:
78% of registered voters
votes
42,708 absentee
21,986 at the precincts
"I have never been prouder of the team in the clerks office. The last two weeks everyday has been Election Day. We averaged over 500 absentee request at the counter a day. We couldn’t have done it with the help of so many city employees who stepped up to help us.
"Thank you.
"I heard many stories yesterday, a few complaints, but mostly positive. The best stories I heard:
"At one precinct lunch was delivered by the residents of the neighborhood.
"A few others had surprise pizza delivered by a couple business. Livonia is an absolutely amazing community.
"Hearing the chairs talk about this brought tears to my eyes to know that the precinct workers are appreciative by the residents as much as they are by me.
"Thank you to all who worked yesterday Livonia appreciates you."

Haley Stevens Will Return to Congress for A Second Term
“I am honored and humbled to represent Michigan’s 11th District in Congress for a second term. I am proud to call this district home and I love the people with all my heart. We face significant challenges in the months to come, from the COVID-19 pandemic to an extended period of economic recovery. I intend to work with Republicans and Democrats alike to stand up for Michigan workers and small businesses, and protect the health and safety of everyone to get our economy back on track.”

More details on the new Livonia transformative holiday celebration set for December--community steps up to partner with innovative programming
|
A spectacular new holiday light display and family gathering is coming to Livonia’s Greenmead Historic Village. The Greenmead light display will be in addition to the annual Livonia City Hall light display this December.
|
Santa Claus will see children on the porch of the Alexander Blue House at Greenmead from 5-8 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 5, 12, and 19, and Sundays, Dec. 13 and 20. Santa will be surrounded by an impressive display of lights on the house and on trees and other displays around it.
|
If weather cooperates, a skating pond will be installed next to the Alexander Blue House. Planners are looking at keeping the lights and skating available into January.
|
The Greenmead display will lit up every other evening for the next several weeks with admission and parking free for the Holiday Lights and Santa Phots program organized by Livonia Parks and Recreation and the Livonia Chamber of Commerce.
|
The professional display of lights is sponsored by AlphaUSA, Embassy Title Agency, OHM
Advisors, GFL Environmental, Fausone Bohn LLP,
|
Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, Masco Corp., Financial and Portfolio Advisors, Greener Method Cleaning and Restoration, Community Choice Credit Union, The UPS Store (5 Mile and Newburgh), Livonia Community Foundation, and D&B Landscaping, Roush
|
Santa will also greet children at the Merry and Bright Reverse Holiday Parade at the Livonia Civic Center Campus from 4-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6. This event will replace the traditional holiday parade. Instead, families will parade through the Civic
|
Center decorations display in their vehicles at Five Mile-Farmington.
“This will give Livonia families a couple places in our community to enjoy great light displays,” said Ted Davis, superintendent of Livonia Parks and Recreation. “We are proud of our partnerships to give our community new and safe places to experience the holiday season."
|
Dan West, president of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, said the light display and Santa visit at the Alexander Blue House is the first step to a larger vision to convert all of Greenmead into a Christmas Village with a larger light display, food and drink, and other activities.
“Our plan is to create a Livonia version of the Campus Martius holiday

displays in downtown Detroit,” West said. “We believe this will give our city an exciting new way to celebrate the holidays, create a new regional attraction, and generate more attention and fundraising for Greenmead.”

Candidates express thanks

Terry Marecki
I’m so honored and appreciate all those who supported me- of Republicans, Democrats and Independents who responded to our message. It was a hard-fought campaign and I acknowledge the efforts of my opponent and her supporters.
I look forward to continuing to represent the residents of Livonia, Northville Township and the City of Northville, and continuing to work with my Wayne County colleagues in our efforts to help us recover from the public health and economic emergency.

Thank you, Livonia, for allowing me to serve as your Representative for two more years!
I want to thank everyone who voted yesterday, regardless of whether it was for me or not.
Voting is one of our most important duties as citizens, and I was thrilled so many went to the polls yesterday or voted by absentee ballot.
I also want to thank everyone who contributed to this campaign. Whether you knocked doors, made phone calls, donated money, or helped keep our team up and running: thank you. This year has been difficult for everyone, so the support everyone has offered in spite of that has truly meant the world and helped get us across the finish line.
Lastly, I want to say how incredibly proud I am of Team Pohutsky. You guys dealt with an unprecedented election cycle with grit, innovation, and tenacity like I have never seen before. I couldn't be more grateful to have you in my corner.

“I am very proud of our campaign and humbled by all of the support we received. Throughout the campaign I met a lot of great people, built a lot of new friendships and I will continue to be a strong advocate for our Livonia students, seniors and public safety officers.
I commend Laurie Pohutsky on her campaign and wish her well.”

Michigan, thank you. It's an honor to serve you for another six years in the U.S. Senate.
To all who believed in us, gave your time and effort in our fight: thank you for putting your trust in me. I'm so grateful and energized to keep working to move our state forward.

As I sit and reflect on this campaign journey, I am overcome with gratitude for all the community members that have come out in support of my candidacy.
Some of you have even spoken on my behalf, having met me as a substitute teacher, PTA parent, LJAL mom, or at a community or school event. Your words of encouragement continue to uplift and empower me.
Wherever this journey takes me, I am confident that we can work together to achieve great things for our community. Thank you for showing up for me, and especially for our children.
Regardless of the outcome, know that we have already won. We have rallied together to speak for those who need us to be their voice, and for that I THANK YOU!
