The city of Livonia Encourages Residents to Sign Up for
New Emergency Alert Notification System 
Following a thorough evaluation and review of alerting systems, the City of Livonia has implemented CodeRED, a high-speed emergency mass notification service provided by OnSolve, LLC. 
 
The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of Livonia’s emergency planning and communications outreach to both citizens and staff. The system sends telephone calls, text messages, emails, and posts to social media channels to inform residents of emergency alerts, advisories, and notifications. CodeRED was selected for its reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s widespread adoption rates across the U.S., including its use by State of Michigan emergency management. 
 
“CodeRED’s robust notification system will provide Livonia officials with a reliable, easy-to-use interface to quickly deliver critical information to our citizens during emergencies. We are eager to use this innovative technology to enhance our emergency preparedness plans,” said Livonia Director of Emergency Preparedness Brian Kahn. “We anticipate using the system to notify residents of weather and public-safety-related notifications.” 

All Livonia residents are encouraged to visit LivoniaCodeRed.org and enroll their contact information including cell phone numbers, text, and email addresses. No one should automatically assume they are in the emergency contact database. Residents can also receive a sign-up link by texting “LivoniaAlerts” to 99411. 
 
“This system will provide added functionality for Livonia residents,” said Mayor Maureen Miller Brosnan. “CodeRed allows residents to choose to receive automated phone calls when emergency alerts go out, making sure we have a more inclusive emergency alerts program. Residents can still choose to receive alerts by email or text message.” 

CodeRed will become the exclusive emergency alerts platform used by the City beginning February 1, 2022. Existing Nixle users will be notified of this transition and are encouraged to sign up with CodeRed as soon as possible.

LXV: Superbowl fans may recognize the format. In Roman Numerals “L” means 50. Also “XV” means 15. So “LXV” is 65

Today is our 64th birthday. But - birthdays are actually anniversaries. This means we have completed 64 years. So this is the kick-off to a very important year for us. Our 65th!

Three Score and Four Years Ago, George Strumbos had the courage, foresight, and grit to start a new company that we now work for. This company provides us, and our families income, benefits, and home while we are away from our family homes. 

We are now engaged in an interesting societal and challenging battle of the wills with our global neighbors as well as here at home testing what Mr. Strumbos set forth for us can long endure. Our purpose is to assure that destiny.

The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here today, but it can never be forgotten what the Strumbos family has provided to us. 

It is for us to dedicate ourselves to this unfinished work, the great task before us, to continue to advance our company to its rightful place in the industry and to assure our Founding Father, and his family, that we are eternally grateful and will succeed, with great pride, in accomplishing what he felt we are destined to achieve. 
You just gotta love the holiday spirit running rapidly through Livonia. Concerts this past weekend. Church Youth Group working with the Goodfellows to package Christmas packages and boy does that list go on and on.

Our Livonia Rotary Returns to a Better Normal in a big way with the spirit of giving at Christmas
At the weekly meeting of the Livonia Rotary they heard from Marlene Kunz, the Director of Northville Civic Concern.

Northville Civic Concern is a food pantry and so much more. Her shared stories spoke eloquently of her years of service to those less fortunate in their community. In the words of President Mike Ladwig "she is an inspiration to us all."

On Wednesday, December 15, at 7:30 AM, about the time Musings hits the street, their speaker will be Linda Holman from Livonia Cares. Livonia Cares is a network of Christian churches partnering with social service agencies to meet the basic needs of individuals and families in Livonia. They will also be joined by Colleen Dohl with The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army exists to meet human needs wherever, whenever, and however, they can.

Livonia Democratic Club Returns to a Better Normal with the spirit of giving.
The Shoe Drive organized by the Livonia Democratic Club collecting over 3,500 shoes resulted in the organization for which the shoes were collected donating $1,500 back to the Club.

Kate Shishkovsky, President of the Democratic Club, has announced that "$500 has been donated to each to the following Livonia charities:

  • Blessings in a Backpack
  • Livonia Kids & Families
  • LEARN - Livonia Equity and Anti-Racism Network


"All three of these groups work hard to deliver food, toys, clothing, and other items to Livonia families. We are proud to support all of them!"
