Livonia Chamber of Commerce announces Leadership Award Dinner
Livonia Chamber of Commerce will be presenting their 2022 Leadership Awards on February 23, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:30.
Join community leaders, Chamber business members and honorees for one of the Chamber's signature annual events, the Leadership & Awards Celebration Dinner.
This event is a celebration to honor those who make a difference in Livonia, making the community a great place to live, work, learn and play!
The event will have a sit down dinner and networking, highlighted by the presentation of the awards below.

From designing Livonia's Grant Elementary School to the Twin Towers in New York Minoru Yamasaki was respected around the world
|
This week in 1963, architect Minoru Yamasaki was on the cover of Time Magazine.
Throughout his standout career as an architect, he would live and work in many places, Birmingham among them.
When he won the competition to design the world-famous Twin Towers in New York, he was working out of Birmingham having just completed Grant Elementary School in Livonia.

Nixie is out. CodeRED is in.

Starting February 1st, Livonia CodeRed will be the exclusive emergency alerts system used by the City of Livonia. CodeRED replaces the Nixle system.
CodeRED allows residents to choose to receive automated phone calls when emergency alerts go out, making sure we have a more inclusive emergency alerts program. Residents can still choose to receive alerts by email or text message. No one should automatically assume they are in the emergency contact database.
Signing up is EASY!

The Foster Closet is an all volunteer tax-exempt non-profit organization providing aid to the Foster Care Community.
Foster families shop by appointment.
Often children arrive in their new foster home with only the clothes on their back. The Foster Closet provides new and like-new clothes, shoes, toiletries, bedding, new socks, underwear, diapers and wipes, and baby equipment in an effort to alleviate the financial burden of foster parenting.
Appointments to 'shop' can be made by calling (800)554-4966 x213.
The closet is getting dangerously low on girls size 24 mo, 2t, 5 & 6 and boys size 4t & 5 winter tops (long sleeve shirts, sweaters, hoodies).
Also in need of boys 4t & 5 pants. Please consider donating if you have any of these gently worn.
Donations can be dropped off at 14337 Blackburn St, Livonia.
Please only donate the items listed above, as we don't have space for other sizes/items.

The Neighborhood Grant Program was established by the Livonia City Council to encourage residents to work collaboratively to foster a sense of community and actively participate in making improvements to their neighborhoods.
A maximum of $500 per neighborhood grant can be awarded for projects/events that support community involvement and reflect positively on the entire City.
The types of projects or events can include community art programs, community events - e.g., neighborhood parties (eligible only once), Rosedale Gardens Parade, public space landscaping/beautification, stewardship of neighborhood parks and common spaces, youth programs - e.g., Beverly Soccer League, Clements Circle Boy Scouts, etc.
Complete an online application (PDF) or pick one up in person at the Community Resources office on the fifth floor of City Hall. The application deadline is May 31, and funds must be spent and documented by Nov. 30. Some restrictions apply.
