Livonia Kiwanis-Early Risers make Livonia proud as
they reach out to seniors
As you all know, Livonia Kiwanis - Early Risers strive to serve our children and in recent events, they have utilized our Livonia children to help bring peace, love, and happiness to those in our community during these difficult times.
With the help of our Livonia public school children, daycares, and neighborhood friends and family, they have collected beautiful handmade Valentine’s Day cards to pass out to hometown seniors at the McNamara Towers!
The children are our future and these cards show how heart-felt and loving our future will truly be!
|
This past weekend - Livonia Kiwanis members and 3 special students, had the opportunity and pleasure to pass out the beautiful handmade cards along with gifts for our seniors!
The seniors were full of excitement and joy as students and Kiwanis members visited residents throughout McNamara Towers.
Livonia is proud of all the hard work these students put into their artwork. And we are especially proud of the Livonia Kiwanis - Early Risers.
Thanks to all the leadership being provided to our community by a volunteer service club.

At the end of this year the typewriter will have reached 30 years of writing about the community in which I live.
It all started in 1992 with a monthly publication called Confluence, the blending of idealism and realism.
In 2004 FridayMusings was introduced to Livonia. After 26 years in Plymouth including serving three terms as a Wayne County Commissioner, I returned home to Livonia.
Continued writing.
Then came the Occasionally, Once in a While, when I feel like it, maybe this year Neighborhood Bake Sale.
Then the 1835 Livonia City Hall of Fame, the Good Old Fashioned Neighborhood Corn Roast.
Simply following in the footsteps of the Joyner family. Grandfather Joyner was Clerk for Farmville North Carolina. Grandfather Wood was on the Patterson California City Council. Dad Joyner volunteered to raise money for the Livonia YMCA, served 20 years on the Livonia Library Commission, Mom Joyner was on the Livonia Board of Education and Wayne County School Board.
The Joyner's were of the opinion that if you live in a town you need to give back some of what you take from calling it your hometown.
You gotta love Livonia. I know I do.
What are you doing to give back? On Friday we will take a look at 20 of our neighbors and learn why they Love Livonia.

Stacy Jenkins shares why she and her family love Livonia
|
Where to start? Livonia is a place we like to refer to as a "large community with a small town feel." We have so many young families who have chosen to return to their hometown to raise their children, myself included.
When Dan and I were looking to settle down after the birth of our first child, I said there
is only one place I would like to live, in Old Rosedale Gardens in Livonia.
He is from Iowa originally, and then the Lansing area. He felt "it" as soon as we started looking for our home. We love this community, particularly our amazing neighborhood! We love Livonia Public Schools. We love the Rec Center and the libraries. We love the access to freeways that take us to Ann Arbor or Detroit in a matter of minutes.
We love supporting all of the amazing locally owned businesses along Plymouth Road, especially the "three L's" : Larry's Foodland, Las Palapas and Luigi's! There are just too many good things to roll into a few sentences when I think of our love for our Livonia community.
