Polehanki supports an increase in
education funding
|
Sen. Dayna Polehanki
(D-Livonia) has issued the following statement regarding this week's executive budget recommendation for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes significant investments in education, including teacher retention and recruitment:
“One of the pandemic’s hardest-hit sectors of our society is our schools, and it is clear from her budget proposal the governor knows this, too. I have and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure our teachers have everything they need to do their jobs safely and effectively, and it helps to know we have an ally in those efforts in Governor Whitmer. To recruit and maintain quality teachers, we must show them as much by making investments in them.”
If passed as written, the governor’s proposed budget would once again mark the biggest state education funding increase in more than 20 years — without raising taxes — by providing extra, necessary attention and funding toward increasing per-pupil and special education funding, respectively, as well as a $2.3 billion investment to aid teacher retention and recruitment.

Matthew Kulacki reports on the continued project to defeat pediatric cancer
through the efforts of St. Baldrick's.
Last Friday was an amazing day!
As the St Baldrick's Foundation, we were invited to attend the PINK OUT game at Walled Lake high school. There, our foundation was given a check from the Warriors for Warriors foundation for $22,000!
That's $22,000 towards pediatric cancer research!
Thank you so much to Linda Litberg Ishbia and the Warriors For Warriors for having us as one of your sponsored organizations. It means so much to be teamed up with such an amazing organization!
It was humbling to be a part of an event that honored fallen and surviving heroes, WARRIORS!
