Our Livonia Police Department shares information on CERT, with pride:
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates citizens about disaster preparedness for hazards that could impact our area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. These skills include fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using this training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhoods, or workplaces, following incidents when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in the community. CERT is one of five organizations that operate under the Citizens Corps, the nationwide grassroots movement that encourages all Americans to help make their communities – and the nation – a safer place to live.
Last week, the Livonia CERT Presidential Volunteer Service Awards presentation was held at the Livonia Police Department. Mayor Brosnan, Police Chief Goralski, Fire Chief Heavener, and Director of Emergency Preparedness, Brian Kahn, were excited to congratulate the recipients!
Thank you to all of our CERT volunteers for their dedication to the community with events such as the vaccination clinics. If you are interested in volunteer services such as CERT, please click on the following link:

Thomas's Dining does it right and Livonia responds
|
The bodyguard joined me for lunch at Thomas's where they were donating 100% of every meal all day long to Ukraine relief. Stopped by with the bodyguard.
Sitting right next to us was a wonderful group from AlphaUSA and one over was School trustee Liz Jarvis and husband Blake Jarvis.
Ran into Geri Leiter. waiting for a table. A table in a full house so yes the place is jumping.
So great. Thank you Thomas's.

St. Colette's Sunday held a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus with proceeds going to Ukraine Relief efforts
|
Stopped by St. Colette's on Sunday for the Pancake breakfast supporting relief efforts in Ukraine. The bodyguard and this typewriter met up with Joe Korotko and Alan C. Helmkamp.
It was a packed house. Had some time as I was leaving to chat up past President of the Livonia Historical Society Bob Legel.
Felt good to be a part of supporting Ukraine.
