The typewriter is rounding the corner and heading home. Sitting here again in Berea knocking out another edition of FridayMusings.
Had a great time on the road again. Stayed away from the touristy spots and crowds. Even with 2 shots, fresh mask every day, and few hugs. The bodyguard is coming back refreshed as well after an update with her sister, nephews and nieces.
The next trip is Colorado to share the excitement with Paul and Raquel and Leo, shown above relaxing with a cookie, on the birth mid-May of the newest addition to the Joyner family--Maya.
Excited for the placement of banners at Five and Farmington congratulating the Class of 2021. Livonia is proud of these students for all they have gone through.
Special thanks to Dan MacIver for spearheading this project and serving as sponsor to make sure it happens.

Credit to the Livonia Greenleaf Commission on Sustainability for their Town Hall forum on climate change.
According to City Commissioner Brandon McCullough it was a "Wonderful presentation. Glad to team up to help lower our carbon footprint!"
|
James Baringhaus, Chairperson - Greenleaf Commission on Sustaina-bility | City of Livonia commented that they "had many Livonia residents participate in this event.
"Town Hall participants discussed climate change concepts and Livonia’s current carbon footprint based on research from the University of California - Berkley. We reviewed Livonia’s average annual temperature and precipitation from 1900 - 2011 and Livonia’s forecasted climate in 2041 - 2070 based on data from the University of Michigan Climate Center.
"We conducted two breakout sessions for residents to discuss and share their ideas for addressing climate change in Livonia. Our thanks to the many highly engaged Livonia residents for attending this event and sharing their ideas on addressing climate change in our community.
"We appreciate FridayMusings support of this event!"

Keeping up with the candidates
|
As information comes available on the candidates running for Livonia City Council FridayMusings will publish them. Some information will have been gleaned from facebook postings or websites when they come available:

Carrie Budzinksi offers up this posting on her campaign for Livonia City Council " I am BEYOND thrilled to announce that Dr. Josh Myers will be my campaign manager!
Josh worked for both Senator Carl Levin and Congressman John Dingell. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Foundation at Monroe Community College.
In 2009 I was an intern at Congressman Dingell's office and I was the only intern to volunteer to help with the District Art Show. After it was over, I hung out with the cool kids (aka staff) talking about news around town. Josh shared that there was a casework position open in Senator Levin's Detroit office and told me to apply. Finding a job in 2009 was not easy and this was a golden ticket in more ways than one.
Josh's wife Sheila worked for Levin, my intern supervisor at Dingell's office Emily (who gave me a great recommendation) had a new boyfriend who worked for Levin. Chris did VA casework and he remains one of the few people I will ever call for a favor. That night set me on the path for Levinland where I met the best of friends and forever work-family Gina Mae, Gale, Amy, Cathy, and Melissa (to name just a few).
I've known Josh for a dozen years now and he (and Sheila) is easily one of the best people I know. Running for office is stressful and scary and I'm so relieved to have a trusted friend support me in this journey.
