Bakeries across America are failing! Their buildings are in shambles, their recipes are stale, they're bleeding money, and customers just aren't coming in.
That is according to the FoodNnetwork
and may be true nationwide but it seems Livonia is home to what Musing calls the Livonia Bakery Trail. So many with so much to offer.
One bakery calling Livonia home for over 40 years is Paris Bakery, a regular stop for the typewriter and bodyguard.
We often talked of the need to update the store, add some lighting and a more appealing display inside, and a clean-up for the outside.
It seems as if that is now happening with a little help from Stephanie Boswell and the Food Network.
It was sold 4 years ago and before plans could be implemented for updating Covid hit the marketplace. Last year award-winning pastry chef Stephanie Boswell with her "sharp eye, razor wit, and loving compassion to help struggling bakery owners" save their businesses arrived in town for the production of her new Food Network show Bake or Break, set down with Kostas the owner of the Paris Bakery, and went to work.
|
Boswell teaches bakers "how to turn their stale product lines into fresh and fast-selling goodies, and with the help of designers, she completely transforms their unappealing shops into beautiful bakeries."
Kostas, from Greece, listened, watched, and participated in the update provided by Boswell and her crew. They are gone and Kostas is at work with his new items, the old staples, and plans to transform the foods available.
Bake or Break aired earlier this week on the Food Network.
Yes, he still has some awesome cakes and baked pastries. But with his Greek background, he is now importing many Greek staples direct from Greece. And adding Mediterranean Pastries like Spinach & Feta Bougatsa, six veggie pies, mini savory pastries with sesame, Custard Bougatsa, Cheese Bougatsa.
|
Paris Bakery has a built-in audience for Paczki's and last month Kostas sold 3000 dozen traditional Polish Paczkis, with Kostas saying he "worked 44 straight hours."
Listening to him talk he has plans and dreams that he is ready to implement, Bake or Break was a start but Kostas says it was only the start.
Paris Bakery is located at 28418 Joy Rd, Livonia, on the southeast corner of Joy and Harrison.

Libraries maintain history, and more importantly, truth
Greta Lastauskaite
Greta is a content writer for the Princh Library Blog
Since the ancient Roman Empire, libraries had a purpose to store different kinds of information, such as historical, literary, musical, military documents. Even though in the past 2,000 years many changes, and innovation have occurred, libraries have kept their main purpose to provide visitors with the information they are looking for and be certain about giving the truth. Regardless of the information visitors are looking for, they can easily access it through the help of skilled and well-trained librarians. Therefore, librarians have a significant role in public and academic libraries. Generally, their duties include collection-cataloging, development, reference services, building partnerships with educational institutions and providing instructional lecturers to visitors. However, as many communities know, librarians do this and so much more!
