A committee, chaired this year by Board Vice President Charlie Mahoney (picture left), reviewed grant applications to decide which ones most met the Foundation's mission -- to promote and develop community resources, properties and civic treasures; promote, support, and develop public interest in the arts and other local cultural undertakings; and to promote programs that contribute to the welfare of the community and the needs of its citizens.
The organizations approved for grants this year are:
▪ Angela Hospice –Aroma Therapy Cutting Garden
▪ Blessings in a Backpack –Program Expansion
▪ First Step, Western Wane County Project on Domestic Assault – outreach to victims in Livonia
▪ Greenmead Restoration Trust – continue work on grave signage for Union/Briggs Cemetery
▪ Livonia Arts Commission – support purchase musical instrument for Rotary or Bicentennial Park
▪ Livonia Civic Chorus – support Senior Outreach and Musical Interlude Programming
▪ Livonia Community Theatre – Summer Musical Theatre Workshop for grades 6-9
▪ Livonia Goodfellows – No Child Without A Christmas
▪ Livonia Junior Athletic League – Support inspection and repair for Bentley bleachers and press box
▪ Livonia Kids and Families –Food Pantries Healthy Food Initiative and replace refrigeration unit
▪ Livonia Symphony Orchestra – support planning efforts for their upcoming 50th Anniversary
▪ Michigan Jazz Festival – 2022 Michigan JAZZ Festival
▪ Mi Work Matters – Anastasia & Kate’s Coffee Shop – Build stronger awareness of the work environment for individuals with Developmental Disabilities
▪ NEW HOPE Center for Grief Support – support Next Steps ongoing grief program
▪ Seedlings Braille Books – LPS Visually Impaired Program
▪ Starfish Family Services – New equipment for indoor Gross Skills Motor Room at Livonia Cente
▪ The ARC of Northwest Wayne County – support for their education advocacy programs serving Livonia Schools and families
▪ Trinity House Theatre – support new signage project
