Livonia's Mac & Cheese Drive for Blessings in a Backpack Huge Success
The Livonia Democratic Club set an aggressive goal for its Mac & Cheese Drive. Collect 1,500 boxes for Blessings in a Backpack. When the LDC realized that they were going to meet that objective, they upped their goal to 2,000 boxes. Livonia, came through in a very big way! The M&C Drive ended on May 31 and they now have a grand total to share with you. Livonia, you donated 2,575 boxes of Mac & Cheese, exceeding the original goal by 58%!!!
Mitsy Morris responds that “thank you just doesn’t begin to tell you, Livonia, how profoundly grateful the LDC is for your generosity and bigheartedness. When the call goes out for help, Livonians always go above and beyond to help get the job done. Mission accomplished, Livonia, job well done! Many, many thanks! Stay tuned for more LDC community service projects in the future."

Donovic denied ballot access for a second time
Livonia City Councilman Rob Donovic has been denied now for the second time access to the August primary ballot. Wayne County Judge Tim Kenny issued an opinion Tuesday that agreed with Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett's decision to disqualify Livonia Councilman Rob Donovic from a state house primary.
Kenny denied Donovic's appeal to appear on the August primary ballot. Donovic, seeking the Republican nomination for the District 22 state house seat, was removed from the ballot, now twice, after failing to meet the residency requirement.
Democrat Rep. Matt Koleszar will face Republican Cathryn Neracher in November for the District 22 seat pending a write-in campaign by Donovic.

Livonia reaching out to help the hungry
|
Livonia AM Rotarians Susan Landmesser, Sharon Pommerville, Greg Greene, John Clay, Claude Kendrick (with daughter Kayla), and Mike Ladwig joined Matt Collins and the Livonia Lions Club for a Kids Coalition Against Hunger meal packing event.
The volunteers met their modest goal of packing 25,000 meals. However, the results will not be modest to the folks who will be the recipients of those meals, and who might otherwise go without food on the day that they'll receive the nutritional benefit of the volunteer's endeavors.

“Community Financial has been enhancing the lives of our members and our communities for more than 70 years,” said Manager/Community Relations Natalie McLaughlin.
“The word 'community' is not only in our name, but it is the core of what we do. We know that Community Financial would not exist without our members and the communities in which they live.”

**Calling LPS high schoolers**
The Livonia PTSA Council is in desperate need of more volunteers for the Summer Early Literacy Volunteers program (ELVs)! We have had a huge interest in the program this summer, and we need more volunteers. Get those service hours in this summer!
Outside of working with our amazing LPS elementary students, we have a little contest going among the 3 high schools! The schools with the most volunteers will get $100 for their school's LMC and their volunteers will be entered into a drawing for Barnes & Noble gift cards!
If you have any questions, please reach out to elvs@livoniaptsacouncil.org
