Just as the typewriter counts the start of Summer with the June 16 Patriotic Pops with the Livonia Symphony I enjoy making Summer complete with the Music from the Heart every Thursday and the Summer Fun Series on Tuesday nights. Livonia continues to excel with our cultural offerings. Why leave Livonia when it is all happening here. Spread the word.

Liz Jarvis for election to the Livonia Board of Education
The Michigan Legislature decided to place the election for local Boards of Education on the same ballot as that of Governor.
Wrong, as the result is that the further down the ballot the more likelihood that voters will either skip the down ballot elections, like School Board, or vote for a candidate with name recognition or follow partisan recommendations. The issues affecting our school will have limited discussion.
A shame.

This year one school board candidate stands out deserving re-election.
Liz Jarvis is visible, active in the community, takes her elected position seriously, assumed a state wide position with the Michigan PTA and our local Livonia Education Foundation.
She is a team with her husband Blake, a mentor with the Livonia Robotics team.
Liz Jarvis was elected to the Board in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. She holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis in Graphic Design, from Michigan State University.
Liz is a stay-at-home mom, and also works as a calligrapher by commission. She is the parent of three LPS graduates.
She serves on the District School Improvement team, the LPS Education Foundation Board of Directors, and the Livonia PTSA Council. She is a big cheerleader for our Livonia FIRST Robotics Teams. Liz is certified by the Michigan Association of School Boards and has achieved the MASB Award of Distinction.
To the typewriter Jarvis is a breath of fresh air and deserves to continue her quality service, listening to residents, with or without students enrolled in the Livonia school district,
FridayMusings supports the re-election of Liz Jarvis for Trustee on the Livonia Board of Education. Livonia will benefit from her community visibility, ease of accessibility, and her strong support of education for special needs students.
Other candidates potentially include Reina Vendramini, Colleen Burton, Mark Johnson. Musings will have more on these candidates over the coming weeks.

LPOA presents
two scholarships
|
The Livonia Police Officers Association (LPOA) is comprised of all Livonia Police Officers, Dispatchers and Service Aides.
This year, through fundraising efforts, the LPOA was able to offer a $500 College Scholarship which was made available to high school seniors who are Livonia residents and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Applicants were asked to submit a short essay outlining their future aspirations.
After receiving an overwhelming number of qualified candidates, the LPOA decided to award this scholarship to two separate high school seniors, each receiving $500.
Congratulations to the recipients, Emily and Macy! This fall, Emily will be attending Wayne State University and Macy will be attending both Schoolcraft College and Illinois State University.
We wish you luck in your future endeavors!
