Each year the people of Livonia celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the City with a week-long birthday party. Held at Ford Field at the corner of Farmington Road and Lyndon the last full week in June (21st - 26th, 2022). Livonia Spree has something for everyone in the family: delicious food; great music ranging from Country to jazz; a fantastic family carnival; and of course, the Grand Finale Fireworks Extravaganza on Sunday night.  The Men and Women of Spree have been working hard to plan another great year at Spree.  So...ready, set, GO to LIVONIA SPREE.

Dave Zarek new Lions Club President Dave Zarek, fifth from the right in picture above, says he "was honored to be installed as the new President for the Livonia Lions Club and on top of that to be honored as being Lion of the year!" The Club also installed all of its new members and Directors. ~Seedlings Spotlight!~ Salome (pictured here) is one of “the Seedlings kids!” Read her nice quote: “I am Salome, and I am blind. I love the book "My Side of the Mountain," that Seedlings gave to me in braille. This, I took to Camp Barnabas, and was able to finish it within the span of one week. "Also, I love fiction books, which Seedlings has in abundance. It is great to read books in braille.” Seedlings is happy to provide folks with the books they enjoy reading. "Salome! Happy reading!" Children of a fallen police officer or firefighter can now go to college in Michigan tuition-free. PA 127 of 2021 was Matt Koleszar's first bill signed into law and it ensures that any child of a fallen police officer or firefighter can go to college in Michigan tuition-free. "These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe and it’s the least we can do to support them. This access is to any child of a police officer or firefighter who died in the line of duty – regardless of current life circumstances. The old version had a 400 percent of the poverty line to qualify for it. And this bill removes that.   "These heroes passed away protecting us and this is the least we can do for their families. And I am proud to say that my colleagues across the aisles joined hands with my fellow Democrats to pass this historic legislation. "This bill has already provided support to families in our community, and as a result, the Police Officers Association of Michigan named me their Legislator of the Year." Jonathon Wennstrom, Laurie Pohutsky, Amanda Allie, Nathan Triplett are at Laurel Manor Banquet & Conference Center with Rotarians. Wennstrom says it was a "Great time at the Rotary Club of Livonia Installation Dinner!" Art Cole, 2021-2022 President, passed the gavel to incoming President Bob Moore.

How do you feel about the road millage renewal? Campaign signs are now out, including at the Musings Estate, mailings are starting to arrive. Not for a candidate but rather for an issue important to maintaining quality of life-the maintenance of our local neighborhood roads. Endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce and FridayMusings but the real endorsement is how the voters of Livonia will react to this issue on the August primary ballot. How do Musings readers feel? Friends of Greenmead 32nd Annual Garden Walk Start your summer off with a walk through five lovely Livonia gardens! The 32nd Annual Garden Walk will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $9 online or at the Greenmead Office. Tickets and booklets will be available on the day of the walk for $10 at the Simmons-Hill House at Greenmead and the Bennett Civic Center Library.
