|
|
From Kentucky to Cincinnati. From New York to Royal Oak. And in between, you have LIVONIA now offering Shakespeare in the Park, July 29-July 31.
The typewriter and bodyguard will be on hand for opening night, Friday, July 29. Come out an hour before the performance which is 7:00, bring a chair. Join us for a food truck dinner at 6:00, pleasant conversation, and then the big moment when the curtain drops.
Well actually not a curtain, but regardless the actors will be performing Romeo and Juliet.
Thank you Ted Davis, Parks and Recreation for the idea, Hardies Family Trust and Community Financial for the sponsorship and financial donations, Kyle Fisher Grant for Direction, Allison Boufford for the production.
See you at Stymelski Park as we welcome in another reason Livonia is the cultural heartbeat of southeast Michigan.

Livonia Picnic introduces one of Livonia's Best Kept Secrets--Trinity House
The typewriter stopped dead in my tracks, shook my head in amazement when arriving at the Livonia Greenmeade Picnic Saturday I was damned impressed that the first display passed by was the Trinity House. Two acoustic guitar players, Mike Ward and Terry Birkett were providing entertainment at the gazebo.
The Trinity House, one of Livonia's Best Kept Secrets, was out publicizing and letting people know that the Trinty House Theatre exists to enrich and enliven the communities of Southeastern Michigan through brave, truthful, and necessary works of art.
The typewriter and bodyguard pulled up a chair and enjoyed the music.
|
Trinity House was introduced to the typewriter after following Livonia's entertainer Robert Johnson who travels the state sharing his music and often posts songs on the Trinity House Facebook page, or on his own page.
“Trinity House has been such a great place to perform . . . great dynamic setting . . . perfect for acoustic music," is how Jason Dennie describes Trinity House.
This September they will be celebrating their 40 anniversary, well actually 41 but hey we erase one year from our lives with the pandemic that seemed to permeate our very existence.
Stewart Francke has a great description of the Trinity House which he says “Of all the venues–clubs, listening rooms, outdoor sheds & festivals, large & small theaters, even the select few shows at arenas–some of the very best nights and concerts I’ve been a part of have been at the tiny Trinity House Theater in Livonia.
"We’re running out of these intimate venues in the greater Detroit area, where you can go hear an accomplished artist in a variety of genres perform their own music, giving you their truth, their soul, so close to you that you can touch ’em.”
Thank you Parks and Recreation and Greenmead for helping introduce the Trinity House. Here is hoping that they move off of the Best Kept Secret List and into the simply the Best.

Helping youngsters understand differences
|
Wanted to share what most of you may already know and those that don't, well let me share it now. Livonia's Lonna Baum wrote three children's books, with illustrations by Dave Messing, to help youngsters understand differences and cut down on bullying. They cover vision, hearing, and mobility.
Hoping to spread the word.
